timepilot
No matter which version of Pitfall (Pitfall 1, not Pitfall II) I use, and despite confirming that each version works fine with Stella, and despite downloading new versions of the rom from independent sites, no version of this game is producing sound via my Phoenix. The only exception is that an appropriate sound is audible when a log hits Pitfall Harry. Otherwise, no sound whatsoever. My setup is a second-run Phoenix with Firmware listed as A0, Colecovision core listed as 0008, and Atari2600 core listed as 0005. My understanding was that second-run Phoenix machines are completely current on their firmware, and that trying to update the firmware could actually cause problems. Can anyone advise as to whether anything is wrong with this situation? For that matter, is there a known incompatibility list for the Atari 2600 core? Thank you. And, just to clarify, this is for the Atari 2600 version of Pitfall. The ColecoVision version of Pitfall is working great with my Phoenix. It is very frustrating to have the better part of a year pass and to hear nothing. Even if the update was that nobody is working on this issue for whatever reason--lack of time, lack of the necessary technical knowledge, or any other reason. I doubt anybody has worked on the issue has they want to get the Colecovision core fixed up and release the 2600 Cartridge adapter not to mention the other non-Phoenix stuff they get up to as well.
