+moycon
I wound up playing through and beating the 2nd game, still need to get back to this and play the 3rd one, a game I never have played before. (Mainly because EA was shutting down servers for online game sometimes a year after the release...F THAT!) Most people at the time were disappointed with the ending to the point where I think they tacked on an additional ending? Am I remembering that right? Does this new version have that new tacked on ending?
+wongojack
I just finished a complete playthrough in January and can confirm that Legendary has the new ending. It also has all of the DLC and the Leviathan DLC adds a few extra lines of dialog in the final conversation that are interesting. The ME3 multiplayer at the time was great, and I played it for quite a bit of time after the original release. I don't usually play multiplayer shooters, so it may have appealed to single-player RPG gamers and not fans of other online shooters. I could swear it lasted longer than a year, but who knows. The Citadel DLC was released about a year after the initial launch, and I know they kept it going at least that long. Anyway, you should play ME3. It is my favorite game in the trilogy. The Citadel DLC added a ton of content including the chance to talk to all of your old squad mates (as long as they are alive). Most of us played it as a post-game epilogue after having completed the game, and it was yet another way to appeal to fans who were disappointed by the original and updated endings.

I just finished playing the Shadowman Remaster and snagged the 1000/1000 achievements on that one. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and was blown away by the game on the Dreamcast. The remaster is WAY better. A lot was left out of the game at the time, due to time constraints, and it's all available now. Too cool. Anyways, I was wondering what I was going to tackle next, you reminded me I still have never played ME3!!!

That's a game I saw over and over again in game stores when it was new-ish, but I never played it. Never read the comic either. Your quick summary there makes me want to check it out. juansolo
So I relented and got ME:Legendary Edition. I feel dirty for once again buying all these bloody games. So I started them again and with all the updates and DLC I have to change my previous thoughts. I played the whole thing through end-to-end in a couple of weeks, then went to Andromeda. First thing I noticed was an incremental increase in polish and control between games peaking with 3. Which was nice. They flowed together better than I remembered and the grindy bits were less annoying when you know what bits you need to do and what you can ignore. Still managed to f*** up in ME2 and get Tali killed in the suicide mission, which annoyed me, but made dealing with the Geth in ME3 more interesting as there wasn't a nice outcome available. Anyway I digress, ME1 is much better in LE. It's still the clunkiest of the bunch, but it's enjoyable. ME2 is great, grind and all. ME3 with the Citadel DLC completely enhances it as far as I'm concerned (would have been ok with it ending there...). The levity and banter it adds just makes the whole thing more fun. The endings have been finessed slightly and now have a bit of an emotional kick, but are all still really bad arbitrary choices. I went distruction this time, the only one that rids you of the reapers and leaves all races with free will as far as I can tell (the geth were not a consideration for me this time and Jester can find himself a real girl...). Essentially I really enjoyed LE, which is why Andromeda straight afterwards was super jarring. Where I enjoyed it stand-alone in the past, after LE it really shows it's deficiences. The writing is god awful, the voice acting is terrible, the facial animations and characters take a noticable step backwards, the antagonist is an un-interesting baddie of the week and it's open world nature with loads of map icons just makes it all lose focus. I played it for a while, established a settlement, found the friendly aliens and cleared out one of their worlds and realised I was bored, uninstalled and shelved it. Where as I will almost certainly play through LE again, Andromeda I just wouldn't. It doesn't exactly instill me with confidence that the shell of Bioware that remains can recapture what made the first three games so special again with ME4... We shall see, but there's no way in hell I'll be pre-ording anything! Edited April 3, 2022 by juansolo
