Fair... but not everyone will feel that way.  If you weren't planning to volunteer, that wouldn't be an issue for you (I'm sure it only takes one or two).

On the other hand, I played it for many hours yesterday (longer than I should)... for the most part, I'm lost as to the story, so I likely won't be touching it again until the translation comes out given that I'll likely have to start over from the beginning to catch the dialog I missed.,,

Oh yeah, it would great to find a couple of translators that wouldn't mind reading some of the story plots while translating.

Or perhaps @drfloyd already has found someone to help with the translating.  Either way would be good.

ok for the visuals of figures on monitors, I will check on my TV Scart screen (I have no more ATARI screen)

To clarify it a little more... it's more about the dots themselves that you're using to give that "retro green screen" look.  They don't seem to be different enough contrast wise to the color used for the text.

At least to my old eyes.

I just can't wait... I spent way too much time playing it yesterday... fixing my ship... exploring the universe... taking a dump on my toilet (though it's disappointing I can't use the bathroom in other places....  I have to hold it while I go back to my ship!

Food/Drink/Sleep seems to get used up a little fast, but I'm not sure if that's the intended speed, or the Falcon... I'll have to try it on one of my regular ST's and see how that works out.

So another question for @drfloyd .... are the cabinets and such just for decoration, or is there some way to open/search them that I'm just not finding?

Hi,

(will reply to the questions later)

But about the translation, i can perhaps do a first translation myselft and then ask someone in US to convert the translation into good english. Not yet fix who will do that. I rembember that Peter Fletcher was interested.

I'd also be interested if you need  help.  I've had some French classes in my younger years (I don't remember enough of it for the game though) and I've been a life long native speaker of English.

I also had just posted some screen captures to explain more of what I was talking about... then I got up, sat back down... and with all the static electricity, as soon as I touched the mouse, I lost my mouse and keyboard and had to unplug everything and reboot... losing the whole message. :(

So NOW I have to do it all again... which I will... after work in a few hours.  :(

I need perhaps to change the method for consumption (foot/drink/sleep) by using real time.... Will think about that for v1.1 !

You have a passion for the cabinets ???

TIPS There is an arcade game inside the game, you can play with it in the World's End bar.

Just that you find useful things in cabinets... especially perhaps in other people's homes. ;)  But mostly, just making sure there wasn't a keyboard command I didn't figure out.

I have played the arcade game at World's End (So I got my "Play Zot II" badge) and I've played in the casinos... as well as used the terminals in the guild hall.

@drfloyd might have gone to bed for the night... :(  But here is the video as promised.

The question being... around the 2 minute mark, the first coordinate for those planets... it's hard to tell what the last digits are .... 888? Or is there a 5 in there?

Other terminals have similar issues, but they're able to be figured out, or they don't matter so much.

At the 9:35 mark.... there is that empty space in what I assume is a list of "achievements"... is that intentional?

Otherwise, enjoy the video.

And for those who don't view it on the site...... the description (which contains the "sorry about the audio").

Just a little walkthrough of the game Cosmos Chronicles by Dr. Floyd for the Atari ST and Windows. In this one, I do a little ship repair (which doubles as a tour) and spend some time in the arena earning some decent money. I didn't show all the arena battles (which is why the money jumps so much in some places) as the original was an hour long. Also, sorry for the lack of sound. I didn't notice it wasn't capturing the sound (this was a video capture from a real Atari Falcon 030) until I had stopped playing. I'll make sure the sound is working before I do my "getting started" Captain's log. Available at (and for more information).... https://gamopat-studio.itch.io/cosmos-chronicles-atari-st

Hmm, yeah the speckled pattern on the terminal background makes it hard to read the text I agree.

Might be clearer if instead of overlaying the text on the background pattern in a transparent way, the terminal text cleared the space behind each letter or number.

Or... since it's a futuristicish game... color monitor upgrade on the Cosmos... (maybe use that sc1224 graphic from https://milan.kovac.cc)

Thanks for your video

Yes, you will discover later this achievement

Ok... I think that it was because it was in the middle that it threw me off a bit.   At the bottom, I wouldn't have really questioned it... but either way, thanks for letting me know.

Another thing that might be helpful (or if it already exists, I apologize)... but the icons on things like the map screen and combat screens (the ones above your health/sleep/food/drink stats).  It's not intuitive what they mean (for some it might be, but not all).

And I'm sorry for dumping all these questions/comments/etc.  I just will forget about them if I don't mention them when they're fresh on my mind.  Obviously not expecting answers/solutions right away. ;)

I take into consideration all the comments, for future updates... for the box version... and for Cosmos II :)

Fixed... but need to be confirmed on real hardware (Falcon or TT)

Version 1.02
https://gamopat-studio.itch.io/cosmos-chronicles-atari-st

- Should correct visibility of computer texts

- A new mini game "easter egg" (in some bars)
- Better management of time spent (for TT or Falcon computers)

Thank you!  Can't wait to try it out.

I'm at the part where I'm about to find Lord British... but it's a big planet....

So far, I've really liked the game.  I've found that trying to translate it as I go helps a lot... but I'm going to have to re-read my translations again to see if I missed a clue about narrowing down the search for LB.

But it's been a great experience so far.
