I wonder if the seller pulled the label off before listing it?

Records that sell between collectors for 35 cents on discogs list for $25 on ebay. I got boxes of 5.5"s floppies, some commercial software some blank, some labeled, and cases of blanks, and several large boxes of plastic cases of 3.5" disks. I just threw out 30 large floppy trays clearing a house. If you're nearby I'll sell you floppies in bulk, just make a reasonable offer for me to dig out the boxes. I might even consider a trade for game controllers or games. I already threw out all the dead 3.5" when I recovered the data for a lawsuit, so those should be mostly working. I actually have a few floppies that came with a program to test if the pc is Y2K safe.

Love this one. Not only asking an astronomical price for this 600XL bundle, the listing title says with 8 x games, but in reality it only has 3...the listing contradicts  itself!!

It's a little-less astronomical when you consider that Star Maze cart, which is a pretty rare bird; especially since he has the auction listed at "Best Offer". That cart also looks to be in nice condition. Not sure if the seller even realises the value of the cart alone; maybe, maybe not.

Here's a close-shot image of the cart from the auction.

Huh?

Ah, my fault. I missed it in the search results because it's titled "Mathematics Action Games - Star Maze" there. I expected it to be titled like the front of the cart (and box), which just says "Star Maze".

That is a pricy cart, especially considering it is a math game. Lol.

Haha... It just shows, if it's rare enough and is a good enough piece of software, it can hold value. It's just a loose cart too. Try getting your hands on a boxed copy.

I gave plenty of them away.

You gave them away when, in the 80's? I'll bet you aren't giving them away now. If so, I'll take 5 please. :D

It's just another ebay collector farce.

I'm not basing my statements on current Ebay pricing, I'm basing it on its history in the past 20 years, and rarity ratings provided by reliable sources.

I still have some.

Having some doesn't keep it from being rare.

It isn't all that rare...

It's generally considered a rarity 9. How much money that currently translates to is up to individuals to decide.

Consider that a standard "9". Cartridges in general have a certain aura but even some high profile games that came out on disk are rarer than that.

Yeah, I'd agree. I suppose ratings should really carry one digit beyond a decimal point. Although ratings are also somewhat subjective.

I think part of the aura about carts is that less titles exist on them compared with disks and cassettes. This translates to a possibility of owning a more-complete collection of them; thus there tends to be a lot of cart collectors, which in turn creates some additional scarcity for the medium. They're also less fragile than disks and cassettes, which makes collecting for them somewhat less risky.
