The Dragon, released by Dragon Data Ltd of Wales, UK ( a division of Mettoy ), built and sold a Personal Computer based on the Motorola Design Spec for a MC6809 based Computing System. This is the same Design Spec that Tandy/Radio-Shack designed the Tandy Color Computer ( CoCo ) from. Making the Dragon and the CoCo, cousins....

It's really hard to put into words the scope and significance of this up coming live stream.  So once again, we can start with the link to the YouTube promo video

As MarkO has already provided some background info on the Dragon and what out show CoCoTALK! is, allow me to elaborate.

First, briefly, CoCoTALK! in it's 4th year with over 220 episodes has been a weekly live talk show covering the Tandy Color Computer and it's relatives, like the UK Dragon, the MC-10 and other similar systems based on the Motorola 6809 CPU.  We're live, interactive and feature a mixed panel of from novices to veterans in areas of hardware, software, programming, game designers, and enthusiasts alike.  We run an average of 3 hours per week due the the sheer volume of things going on in the CoCo community.

The Dragon is the UK cousin to the CoCo, not designed as a "clone" but rather based on the same Motorola reference design the CoCo was built from, and, with a little help from Microsoft, who did the BASIC ROM, it ended up being near identical so the BASIC would be compatible.

What is significant about this show coming up, is, for probably the first time in history, we are gathering a panel of over a dozen members of the Dragon community to talk about this system, it's ecosystem and community, and these members range from people who were at ground zero and invented the BIOS and met with Bill Gates at the inception, to fans of the system, collectors of software, to some of the current home brew developers and makers of modern hardware accessories for the system.  There hasn't been any single media style event like this where these many people will be gathered to talk about this system probably ever.

If you're even mildly curious about UK/EU 8-bit Micros, the Motorola 6809 CPU family, MicroDeal software, MAME development, Software/Video game design, and so much more about a fantastic system that probably hasn't been discussed too largely outside of it's own community, you might want to give this show a watch, and, if you can catch it live, even ask questions from the panel.

Like all episodes of CoCoTALK! it's a dish best served live, and interactive, but replays are available both on the YouTube channel and audio and video podcasts replays that are always available.

I humbly invite those who may find this system, topic, and show format even the least bit intriguing to join us live, if at all possible, August 14th @ 1PM EDT 6PM UK time, or watch the replay, and to learn more about our weekly CoCoTALK! show, check out the website with all the various links to the live streams and podcast replays at http://cocotalk.live

Thanks!
