Just a heads up, this is another title where the score disappears after Game Over and never returns.  Otherwise this one's pretty straight forward.

General HSC Season Rules:

• To participate, just post a score to the thread. Anyone can join in at any time.
• A picture or screenshot is encouraged when posting a score but not required.
• The season is 15 rounds long.
• Games will be posted on Sundays and run two weeks through Sunday at 11:59 PM CST.
• Do not exploit game glitches, take advantage of 1-up loops or intentionally die in order to replay a level.
• If "point pressing" is not specified in the game rules you should be moving forward in an attempt to complete/loop the game and not "camping" for points.
• No emulator save states, slow-mo, rewind, etc.
• No cheats, e.g. Konami code, Game Genie, etc.
• Turbo controllers are allowed.

I had some stupid deaths that added to my score but there was no deliberate point pressing.

Cutscenes are laughable but fun, and I like how the first level acts as an intro to the title screen. I also had a lot of fun with the 2nd stage boss!

 

Still, I’d rather be playing Duck Tales hahaha. Not a bad game so far here tho lol.

It takes a few tries to pick up on the pattern. Just get in close and duck and get a bunch of sword hits in when it's shooting fire and then jump on the platforms when it's going to come at you. The sword is incredibly useful against bosses as it can quickly deal a bunch of damage.

 

Also you can walk while ducking.

Died from a bird knocking me off of a platform.  It induced a troubling Ninja Gaiden flashback.

Thanks for the tips.  The first two bosses are fairly easy once you figure them out.  I was originally trying to use grenades on both of them.  That was a mistake.  Especially with the second boss, getting close allows the fire to go right over you.  Otherwise, it's pretty difficult to avoid.

Finished it!  No screenshot though, because it went straight to the ending after the points tallied. 

 

For years, I've been thinking I've played this game a lot.  But turns out, I was thinking of Code Name: Viper.   Been playing this quite a bit over the past few days, and I think it would have been one of my favorites if I'd found out about it back in the 80's

Aw, man... based on your posted score , 2nd place would have been extremely close, I believe.
