Tempest
Quick question for @johnnywc. When you release a demo for one of your games, how are they different from the final release version? Does it vary by game or are the all limited in the same way (number of levels, missing features, etc.)?

I try to stay consistent with what is included in the demos for each game (if it makes sense). The trick of course is coming up with a balance so players get a good idea of what the final game will offer but still have a reason to hopefully invest in the full version. ? Typically: Limit the # of levels, usually with wrap-around (ie. at level 8 go back to level 1). Disable some of the skill levels (novice, standard usually included; advanced disabled and special skill levels like CHALLENGE in Galagon & Lady Bug Arcade, etc.). Disable special player modes like co-op and vs. Disable SaveKey high score saving. Disable any other special add-ons like level select in RobotWar, # of bonus mazes in Lady Bug Arcade, etc. Disable additional difficulty options like ZK 'A' setting which enables random placement of the prizes or Mappy 'A' setting that does the same thing. Disable all 'cheats' (level skip, color select, etc.) If you download the demo ROMs from our website, there is a readme included in each ZIP that says exactly what is included in the full version (or, conversely, not included in the demo version). Hope that helps! John

I just have a few of your demos and they felt like full games so I was wondering what exactly was disabled.
devwebcl
And is there any difference between your new digital release of Conquest of Mars and the one from at AA?

Hi there! For CoM there was an update in 2009 that modified the caverns to have indentations where the laser gates appear on STAGE 3, plus some minor tweaks to the collision detection, firing speed, etc. Hope that helps!
