Do we are can we get a discord channel with atariage or elsewhere?

I'd be willing to do it, though i've never hosted a channel before.  Maybe someone already has one? 

 

I am in the atariage one but while it's nice, it's a bit broad.. the "programming section" would seem a bit diluted considering how many vintage devices are being developed

Does Discord maintain discussion for a little while, something like chatting in Slack, or is it instant like IRC? I've never used Discord so I don't know what to gain from chatting over there. Also it assumes you'd have others to chat with.

that's a great question.  so far as I can tell its not limited, but i imagine that if the server were to be taken offline at some point it would go away but so would any forum..   

 

I never got into slack when it was all the rage..  it's probably come a long way..   I just know discord has become the latest platform for both gamers and game developers.. and of course all kinds of other stuff.  

 

yea i guess I was seeing it as a little more realtime and it's able to display code well, but i suppose it probably might be overkill.  Seeing Atari Age has a channel, it would be GREAT if they could just give intellivision it's own little channel since.  I feel like if posting questions in the general "programming" section it would just be lost in a muddle of various projects / languages / platforms..

There is already an Intellivision Discord server, with a #game_dev channel.  AtariAge has a Discord server of its own as well.

i'll definitely get into that one then.  the atari age discord is too broad and doesn't cater to intellivision specifically so i left that group..  @Zendocon thanks for sharing that!
