I was going to point this out in my answers! I have been sitting here with my answers filled out but I know I know 23 and I just can't seem to find it.

Oh my god, my N-Gage Fan Club card is going to be revoked 😭

 

The really sad thing is that starting out I said, “that looks like One…” but I didn’t recognize the character and I became convinced it was a PS1 game and never returned to my original thought. Clearly I need to play One more.

Play more N-Gage, in 2022?? Please don't.  The frame rate wasn't great in the 2000s, it won't be better now. 😅

I had the QD and for a while I really liked it. The digipad was really good for cursor positioning while texting!

 

Have you ever heard of "D-Xhird"? That's a 1997 Saturn exclusive that a player from ResetEra sent in, if you frame it right it does look remarkably similar to ONE.

I liked all of the challenges, even the ones that made me pore over hours of youtube videos of games I didn’t know 😜 

 

I am especially grateful that all of the rounds are so different. I wonder if the kitchen one ranked low because it somewhat overlapped in people’s recollections with the food one and ended up splitting the votes. First and last place in the popular challenges aren’t THAT far apart, after all.

Welcome to the new quiz year! Linear progression, strict level sequence, no exploration? Not today - we begin this season with a younger genre, I hope the retro fans among you won't run screaming. ^_^

 

I'm sure there's many classics I didn't include, and instead put titles in this round that just barely qualify as open world... but this is just me trying to keep it interesting, not knowing every release out there and also avoiding re-use of games from previous rounds.

February Quiz - Clues #1

 

Fifty people are already roaming the various open worlds of this round. Well, has anyone climbed a tower to unlock new clues yet? Then let me deliver...

 

Here are the first clues:

 

1) The 12, 15 (and three titles from the last row) are controlled from the first person perspective - and there is shooting in all of them (sometimes more, sometimes less).
2) This round is surprisingly "new", a total of eight games are from the current decade.
3) Attention dear players, title 18 is not by Sid Meier.
4) Number 20 is the only game from the 80s, it never got released on console.

February Quiz - Clues #2

 

This Open World is filling up, now there are already seventy players! Of those, two are from this community. Not quite MMO size yet, but we'll get into triple digits for sure.

I've been curious about this quiz for a while, unfortunately discovering it right before it went on hiatus. Was excited to see that it's back.... until I realized that it was completely out of my wheelhouse and I didn't recognize a single game! Well, after thinking about it for a bit I actually do recognize one (not surprisingly the one from the 80s).  - How specific do our answers need to be?  If I answer XYZ and it's actually XYZ 2: The Sequel is that good enough?

 - Do we need to specify the system or is just the title sufficient?

 - Is it cheating to reverse GIS?

 - Is there any benefit to submitting answers early vs. waiting for all the clues?
