Harmony Yin/Yang Symbol Spins & Game Doesn't Load

Hi,

I have a Harmony Cart that I got a year or so ago. I recently tried playing a couple of homebrews. I think it was Evil Magician Returns II and The End. When loading the games, the Harmony Yin/Yang symbol appears on the screen and spins and spins but the game never starts. Is this a problem with the console or the cart? The games started on my 7800.

Thanks!

To clarify, I am reading that you were able to play these games on your 7800, but these games do not work on another console you are trying? If so, that seems to suggest a problem with that particular console, or an incompatibility between the console and Harmony, or maybe even a bad connection on the cart port or something. Also, what kind of console, i.e. heavy/light sixer, 4-switch, Jr, etc?

Or, did you mean something else? Let me know, as that will help me give a better answer.

Hi!

I have a light sixer. They don't work on the light sixer, but they work on my 7800. It's only happening with some homebrews. I think it could be related to this:

Thanks!

It's worth a try to bridge the inductor L200 on your console and see if that helps.

Does your console have any mods? If so, I suspect that mods may cause issues. It seems to only affect the older consoles. I suspect it might have to do with where the mods draw power. I believe mods should only draw power directly from the middle pin of the 7805 regulator and not downstream of it. Drawing 5v elsewhere on the PCB may get power that has passed through one or more inductors, and I suspect the additional load of mods can have a deleterious effect on the transient voltage or current available to other components.
