Test on real hardware

Hi to everyone. It's my first post.

I am writing an Atari 2600 game.

For now I am using Stella for test, but soon I need to test it on a real hardware.

The game is an 8k rom.

What kind of cartridge, you suggest, I need to flash the rom?

When testing with Stella, please make sure that you have the developer options set. This will help you to identify most of the errors.

 

For testing on real hardware there are Harmony, Encore, UnoCart and PlusCart. Both are equal for your test case. Besides that, all have their advantages and disadvantages.

 

BTW: Experience strongly suggests, that you let some people playtest your game. They will help finding hidden bugs and also provide valuable feedback.

I didn't know the developer menu and .... one problem to fix already ?

I'll check about the cartridge you suggest.

Of course, I'll use some beta tester.

That's something good. Debugging a problem in Stella's debugger is much easier than having to analyze it on real hardware only.
