Controller for Fire TV

I very recently purchased a Toshiba Fire TV (essentially a TV with the Firestick built in). This is my first experience with a smart TV.

 

There are a few games that I would like to try-out, but I am completely overwhelmed with the choices for a controller. 

 

Does anyone have any specific recommendations? Ideally under Cdn$25.

 

I assume that I need a wireless controller; are those compatible with other systems (e.g. Xbox, PS 5) also usable?

Here you go(https://www.androidcentral.com/best-gaming-controllers-amazon-fire-tv)!  Hopefully this helps a bit.  Definitely believe Amazon's own controller should work for sure and without any issues, though I imagine that is a bit pricey, but I am sure that Amazon will discount it at some point.

This is great -- except that none of these models are available through Amazon in Canada ?

Oh man!  That is a major bummer.  I do hope a solution does happen upon you though, and I would seriously look to see if/when the Amazon controller goes on sale.  That would be worth getting if cheap enough.

I tried this model:

It will connect to the Fire TV, but it apparently requires some additional driver software to work properly and I am unable to download/install that software on the TV. (The Silk browser just states that Downloading is not supported.)

 

I am still open to suggestions.

I've got a Fire TV Stick, and have been able to pair a Sony DualShock 4 (PlayStation 4 controller) to it. I have been able to use the DualShock 4 with Luna (Amazon's streaming game service), and I can also navigate the Fire TV user interface with it.

 

If you've got a DualShock 4 lying around, you can put it into pairing mode if you press and hold the SHARE button for at least one second, then (while still holding SHARE) press the PS button.
