OriginalJohn
I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before, but I was browsing the Blue Sky Rangers website and saw this: " FUN FACT: There was one last-ditch effort at Mattel to produce voice games. Late in 1983, seeing that the price of voice-synthesis chips had dropped dramatically, Keith Robinson, manager of M Network Colecovision games, and Tom Priestley, programmer of Number Jumble, came up with a scheme of producing Colecovision games with a voice chip built into the cartridge. Using the components of a talking-clock kit they bought at Radio Shack, Tom cobbled together a prototype talking Colecovision game. Their idea was to produce Colecovision versions of Space Spartans, Bomb Squad and B-17 Bomber using the existing voice data. Marketing was intrigued by the idea and asked for it to be developed further, but Mattel Electronics was shut down a short time later." I'm curious if anyone has any further information, like pictures, documents, etc? It's intriguing to think that with some modifications to cartridge circuitry that something like this is possible.
ClassicReplay
This wouldn't surprise me, as ColcoVision were seemingly trying to do great things. I imagine it wasn't long before they hit a great big brick wall and ran out of memory.
