UHATEIT
This is a long time coming and I love everything that Dr. Typo has put out over the years. Tube SE is still my all time favorite homebrew game, its just freakin awesome!
KidGameR186496
It's cool to see DrTypo's works being compiled into one cartridge but I kinda wished the original Tube (the not SE version) was also included. I like seeing how the original work evolved with the further iterations. Hell, it could be included as a cool unlockable if you, say, completed certain achievements on each title. Either way, the packaging looks great! Edited January 4, 2022 by KidGameR186496
Rick Dangerous
Fantastic, these games rock, super stoked to see this! Looks like I won't need my custom made CD copies anymore.
Wilco
This is amazing, I don’t think there is a single game in this collection that I don’t like, I’m very happy to see these games get a physical copy, as they deserve
+Biff Burgertime
As an outsider just creepin' around these parts... I see discussions every so often with people clamoring for 3D games, wanting to see someone homebrew up the true power of the Jaguar. Well, the closest I've seen anyone come to fulfilling that fantasy is DrTypo... but the threads for his games haven't attracted that much attention. Seems he just makes games rather than talks a big game about it! Whenever I see another discussion like that pop up I think of DrTypo. Glad to see his games are finally getting some attention and a proper release!

Seems he just makes games rather than talks a big game about it! Whenever I see another discussion like that pop up I think of DrTypo. Glad to see his games are finally getting some attention and a proper release! The Jaguar is capable of absolutely gorgeous looking pure pixelart, pseudo 3D (Mode7 effects), and basic 3D. One does not need to exclude the other, a good game is always a good game regardless of the technology it uses. DrTypos games are not only 3D games, there are pseudo 3D games (like Tube SE and Gem Race), as well as a Voxel game (Fallen Angels) and finally a flat shaded 3D polygon game (Tube 2020). I wouldn't mind having timless classic pixelart games on the Jaguar in addition to the more experimental/technology pushing games. That would be like trading away the wonderful looking Rayman for a 3D game like Fight for Life. This may also be the thinking that lead to the tragedy that Atari dropped funding for wonderful looking pixelart titles like Deathmatch, and Conan: Edited January 5, 2022 by phoboz
+Biff Burgertime
I'm agree wholeheartedly, variety is the spice of life. The type of games I want to see most are those that don't resemble others I've seen before, something fresh and unique... and DrTypo's games certainly fit that description too. Unfortunately I don't own the console, but I can't tell you how many times I've watched and rewatched footage of them.

Unfortunately I don't own the console, but I can't tell you how many times I've watched and rewatched footage of them. At the same time I belive many retro gamers seek something they can recognise, with a little bit of variation. That's probably why indie titles like Axiom Verge are so successful on modern consoles. Some people love to see art in a style from the past, something that cannot be delivered credibly from the big gaming companies today. They can at most deliver 3D grahpics restricted to 2 dimensions, not fully handdrawn images, simply because it's to time consuming for them compared to the money the would make on such a game. One of the things that attracted me to the Jaguar (I relatively recently picked up my first console) was it's ability to do awesome 2D pixel art and the "dawn of 3D" style games. I feel like sometimes people pick a side of th 2D vs 3D debate, and miss that the real value of the system was it's ability to do both.
+LS650
Indeed. For example, Super Burnout is not just a good racing game, but looks better than many 3D racers on the newer consoles.

After playing around with the Jaguar SDK I just realized that in the the video of Deathmatch; the music from the FM/wavetable synthdemo example is played over and over again. So they probably just integrated that example as it is to the game. I am also noticing that there are no sfx, which will be an interesting challenge for anyone attemping to use this example for the sound engine (e.g. both music and sfx) Otherwise the common approach for homebrewers seem to be using Protracker modules (.mod music, which uses samples for the instruments), along with ordinary samples for sfx. The synthdemo approach would give much smaller music files (e.g. MIDI, .mid files), but also a synthetic sound more similar to for example the Genesis/Megadrive's sound on the music. That is compared to the Amiga like sound often heard in Protracker modules. Edited January 9, 2022 by phoboz
