+wongojack
PC Montezuma's Revenge (Modern Reboot) 78 Pac-Man 256 66 Spellspire 252 NES Montezuma's Revenge! by Normal Distribution LLC — Kickstarter I got my kickstarter reward for the NES version of Montezuma's Revenge, which also came packaged with the modern reboot. The modern reboot features updated, silly graphics and all new & terrible sound effects. Thankfully you can switch back to the retro theme at any time. The modern graphics theme does however (optionally) scroll the screen instead of the traditional flip style which I admit that I liked more than I thought I would. The biggest game play changes include some extra collectibles hidden in the levels and the addition of a bat that comes and kills you if you spend too much time on one screen (bat also in NES version). I can't say I really liked the addition of the bat as there are many times in the game where timing your jumps and movements are critical and stress-inducing enough.

The remastered version of No Man's Sky becomes the 9th PS5 game in this tracker and wins by a margin of 101 minutes ahead of Dead Space 2 on the Xbox 360. However neither of those can match the wide range of the Switch, which thus remains the most played system. No changes to the 50/150/300 hour clubs. Steven Pendleton
Several weeks ago I was thinking about Kanda Alice, and then just a few days later it stealth launched on PS4, so I insta-bought it a few minutes after it launched. Weird coincidence for sure. Didn't get around to actually playing it until just this week, though. I forgot how nice this game's art and music are; too bad there isn't a soundtrack CD because I'd insta-buy that, too. PC Arcana Heart 3 LOVEMAX SIXSTARS!!!!!! +jgkspsx
iOS: Duolingo - 130 minutes Pikmin Bloom - 32 minutes I missed the Sunflower community day because I was gardening and doing Ukrainian stuff. Oh the irony! Songpop (3.0) - 129 minutes Songpop Classic - 55 minutes I relapsed into playing the only Facebook game I ever played, now a mobile app. I love the core gameplay and can't stand the lootbox skin around it. Oh well. I seem to do it for a month or so every 9-12 months. Nintendo 3DS: I have been revisiting the eShop to see what I need to buy before the August 29th deadline (which might just be the deadline for adding point cards, I need to experiment). I.F.O - 20 minutes Pseudo-LCD Game and Watch graphics, but pixelated (???)... this is aesthetically really close to being something special but ends up a mess. Nevertheless it's really fun. Quarters, Please - 25 minutes Not an arcade spinoff of Papers, Please; this is instead a spinoff of the cute and gently but acidly humorous Quiet, Please adventure game series. Some games (Meteors) are fun and relatively authentic. Some games are fun but not very authentic (the Bump n Jump clone). Some are cute but just not fun (Dino Dig, the Dig Dug homage where you play as a store-brand Fygar and firebreathe the store-brand miners). Nintendo DS: Lux Pain - 45 minutes The voice acting is really remarkably good. I might stick with this one, it's a game that got a really bad rap for no discernable reason. Nintendo DSi: I also revisited the DSiWare Shop to make sure I had downloaded everything I had bought. Found one I missed: Nokia N-Gage: Sega Rally Championship - 45 minutes Time trials and the first two rally championships. It's not a patch on the superb Game Boy Advance port (and it's apparently a wholly distinct port and not a GBA lift and shift), but it's decent fun. Both games are hilariously expensive and best played through alternative means than original carts. Accept no substitute. System Rush - 10 minutes Just played the Russian tracks a bit. Warhammer 40,000: Glory in Death - 135 minutes It's a lot like Advance Wars except with a much deeper and more confusing ruleset. I am not good at strategy games generally. After losing repeatedly, I finally won a skirmish! Against the easy CPU. I was playing a test version with broken music, which was a shame as the music is pretty good. It’s a really great game. Unfortunately very expensive to get a real copy, but easy to obtain through other means.

It is a little deeper than the two arcade games and super fun single-player. I've logged 20 hours roughly on the Switch version. It was well worth the cost for me. 2

Total 6605 minutes and 37 different games on 13 different systems, with 8 participants. Sorry for the much late statistics, after an intensive week including announcing the retro gaming expo in October which I'm part of the arranging team. This week sees the resurrected Diablo 2 one hour ahead of the dinosaurs brought back to life in Jurassic World Evolution. At the bottom, Warhammer 40K squeezes its way onto the top 10, one minute ahead of Super Smash Bros Ultimate on 11th place. System wise, the PC is 1.5 hours ahead of the Switch, with one single Xbox Series X game to put it in third place. No changes to the 50, 150, 300 Hour clubs. 1
Steven Pendleton
I remembered that Fairy Fencer F exists and that I'm supposed to be playing it before Refrain Chord releases on the 15th, which is easier since I finished everything in Jurassic World Evolution. I'll probably replay its crappy sequel this week. Hopefully they improved it a lot since last time, as it was a very glitchy and horribly optimized mess at launch. TheGameCollector
This week I played Sonic Origins for Switch - 900 minutes Sonic Triple Trouble 16-Bit for PC - 242 minutes Progress: In Sonic Origins, in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, I completed the Sonic & Knuckles half of Classic Mode as Tails and all of Classic Mode as Knuckles, then completed Boss Rush Mode with all three characters, then played through Mirror Mode with Sonic & Tails, Sonic Alone, Tails Alone, and Knuckles. Then I tried a couple stages of Blue Sphere to see if it saves and it doesn't. You have to note the level passwords just like you would with the original game. Then I played through Mission Mode for all four games and got an S rank in everything except three of the challenges where I could only get an A or B. This unlocked 100% of the Museum material. All I think I could really do with the game at this point is try to get faster times in the levels for my records. As much fun as I had, as far as Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3 & Knuckles goes I would now rather go back to playing older versions of these games that were programmed better, and play more hacks and fan games based on them. Sonic Triple Trouble 16-Bit is a new fan game where they re-created the Game Gear game from scratch, changing the level design a bit and adding original content to make it play much more like a Genesis game. It was very well done, the music is remade from the original Game Gear songs with Genesis sounds. I completed Story Mode with Sonic & Tails first, collecting all 6 emeralds from the Special Stages where you now race Nack/Fang to the emerald while dodging obstacles, collecting rings to keep you going and lightning bolts to slow Nack down. The battles with Nack are now mandatory boss fights at the end of some Act 1's. Dr. Robotnik still has the 7th emerald until the end of the game. In this game Sonic & Tails are a tag team much like the Donkey Kong Country games where you can press a button to swap between the two. After completing the game with them it unlocked Knuckles who gets to play through Story Mode solo. It also unlocked Nack/Fang as a playable character for Free Play mode which is basically a level select. I played through a couple levels with him. Next I played through Knuckles' Story Mode. He does not collect any emeralds or go to Special Stages in this game. Completing his story mode unlocks Metal Sonic for Free Play mode. I played through 1 level as him. I highly recommend you try this game if you like Sonic's Genesis games at all. Edited August 22, 2022 by TheGameCollector
