10. Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium (Switch) - 120 min.

Top systems

1. Switch - 4062 min. (#1)
2. Xbox One - 384 min. (#8)
3. iOS - 322 min. (#6)
4. PC - 264 min. (#3)

7. PS4 - 28 min. (#2)
8. Pico-8 - 6 min.

Total 5246 minutes and 25 different games on 8 different systems, with 6 participants.

Final Fantasy X HD Remaster adds another 10 hours to the figure from last week, and easily is the most played game this week. Top 5 games are all on Switch, actually 7 of the top 10, so it comes as no surprise that system still dominates the second list, 10 times as many minutes as the Xbox One in second place.

Final Fantasy X HD Remaster also joins the 50 Hour club with a total of 4457 minutes so far. At the same time, Littlewood is less than 1000 minutes from entering the all-time top list.

iM@S is finally back. I got crashing in specific instances in iM@S, so I tested some other games and discovered that my PSU was dying, so I got a new PSU and now everything works properly again.

PC
Death Stranding Director's Cut - 3
THE iDOLM@STER Starlit Season - 232
This game has way too many characters; there really did not need to be 29 (!!!) of them. Started a new save file since it's been a while and I did not get far last time, and it took me 2 hours and 50 minutes to get to the part where you can actually start playing the game. Not great pacing. I've also heard this game becomes fairly difficult later, but not in a good way.
Jurassic World Evolution - 4
Jurassic World Evolution 2 - 12

Switch
Kyuukyoku Tiger - 33
Same! Same! Same! - 6
Shin Megami Tensei V - 3

Arcade
1944 The Loop Master - 20

PS4
Kyuukyoku Tiger - 53
Twin Cobra - 8

Apple iOS:

Duolingo - 70 minutes

Pikmin Bloom - 130 minutes

Browser:

Cracker Jack Prize Inside Arcade - 35 minutes

I got a code for one of these in a bag of Cracker Jack so I figured I had to see what they were telling the kids arcades were. They are mostly not arcade games (two Windows 3.1 games and a mobile game) but some of them are okayish. The images are easy to guess if you want to try them.

Specific times:

Cracker Jack Bouncin’ Bingo - 3 minutes

unplayable Flappy Bird clone.

Cracker Jack Diamond Ski - 15 minutes

SkiFree, with sprites lifted directly from the real game…

Cracker Jack Pop! Pop! Popcorn! - 5 minutes

Minesweeper.

Cracker Jack Space Crunch - 20 minutes

simple shmup.

I “beat” that last one. Not much of an accomplishment.

LCD/Handheld:

Radio Shack Blast Off Pinball - 25 minutes

I forget where we classified this before but I think it was in Modern.

Ryo Concorde - 20 minutes

This strange relic of the immediate wake of the Concorde’s retirement is pretty impressive for an in-flight kid entertainer. You fly a biplane in the actual games, though. lol.

Nintendo Game Boy Advance:

Medal of Honor Infiltrator - 30 minutes.

Got farther.

Nintendo Switch:

No Man’s Sky - 260 minutes

Learned a bunch of words in Vy’keen, found a bunch of historical sites, made friends with a bunch of them at their outpost. Found a ruin on the starting planet, found an artifact, the sentinels caught me, I fought them, I died. I found my “grave” in the sky and moved on to another planet, where I got the terraformer. Having a great time. My only complaint is that I wish I could take off more than four times per fuel tank.

The Solitaire Conspiracy - 135 minutes

“beat” the game. (But you can only actually play the real card game fully as intended after you finish the story mode, so…)

Tetris 99 - 15 minutes

Yars Recharged - 65 minutes

Nokia N-Gage:

Red Faction - 55 minutes

Here are my times for the past week (October 10th through 16th) on modern systems:

Browser based:
Driver FVRV - 30 min. in 2 sessions
Kitten Force - 50 min.
Microsoft Jewel - 22 min.
Zaxx! - 13 min.

This week I tried some of the games offered in Microsoft's Edge browser. Driver FVRV is a scrolling driving game where you change lanes left and right and stop to pick up passengers (a bit unrealisitically, actually, since you can pick up more than 5 passengers in a round). Kitten Force is kind of a space shooter where you have to shoot blocks and enemies you each hit multiple times, and, over time, you can upgrade your kitten with more and stronger shots. Microsoft Jewel is probably what was previously called Bejeweled! - a puzzle game where you try to clear a field of jewels by having two jewels swapping places so you get 3 or more in a row, including chain reactions.

Finally, Zaxx! is a remake of Zaxxon where you can change camera angles, one of which being first person and one of which being behind the plane, similar to the angle of the Atari 2600 and Intellivision versions of Zaxxon. This is an online game, it starts right up after calling the URL. The music has been done by no other than Chris Hülsbeck, who of course is the author of Sound Monitor for the C-64, which is the tool where I did most of my C-64 music on back in the day (as Pinocchio). The game is pretty faithful to the arcade concerning graphics, but converts it to different perspectives, which is pretty much what I was looking for for a long time. Actually I was looking for a game like that after watching a Youtube video of a guy who turned E.T. on the Atari 2600 into a 3D game.

What's a guy to do when he has a week of PTO?  Why, play video games, of course!  (of course, I did the usual appointments and housework stuff, too)

I picked up Dorfromantik and started to play that, plus worked more on my FFX-2 playthrough.  I also checked out the Anniversary content on FH5.

Switch:
Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium - 210 minutes
Capcom Fighting Collection - 210 minutes
Dorfromantik - 210 minutes
Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster - 1680 minutes
Littlewood - 210 minutes
Shovel Knight: Dig - 210 minutes

XBox Series X:
Forza Horizon 5 - 180 minutes

PC is mostly fixed. Having audio issues now, so I really do not like playing games on it right now, hence the lack of iM@S this time. Should hopefully be fixed soon.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 - 27
Kamui - 17

Switch
Get Star - 3
Kyuukyoku Tiger - 63

Here are my times for this past week (October 17th through 23rd) on modern systems:

PC:
Cliffall - 74 min. in 4 sessions

In my theme of games similar to Pitfall!, I also played Cliffall, a PC freeware game. There was supposed to be a purchase version following it, but I never saw it. Anyway, this is about one of the next iterations of Pitfall after Pitfall II, and the graphics and sounds are about on Amiga or Atari ST level, although most of it would probably be doable on a C-64 as well with a bit loss of  quality. I saw most of the game, where the first and last level have puzzle elements in them where you have to get certain "keys" to unlock doors revealing more keys you need to finish the level. The last level is a big underwater maze which, unlike the other levels, scrolls in all 4 directions, while the others only scroll vertically and flip pages horizontally.

Finished the game.

Nokia Symbian 60:

Businessman - 45 minutes

Quite a good implementation of the Landlord's Game. I destroyed the computer, which must mean the CPU is pretty easy.

XOne

Assassin's Creed Black Flag 354

Kill it with Fire 25

Spacelines from the Far Out 25

I finished the story in the Black Flag DLC - Freedom Cry.  I suppose it was nice to revisit the world of Black Flag, but this slimmed down version sorta took the shine off my memory of the game.  It was ok.

Week 42

Top games

1. Alien: Isolation (Switch) - 860 min.
2. No Man's Sky (Switch) - 644 min. (#2)
3. Dorfromantik (Switch) - 420 min. (#4)
4. Borderlands 2 (Xbox Series X) - 360 min.
4. Forza Horizon 5 (Xbox Series X) - 360 min. (#9)
6. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox One) - 354 min.
7. Lifeless Planet (Switch) - 330 min.
8. Shin Megami Tensei V (Switch) - 300 min.
9. Littlewood (Switch) - 210 min. (#4)
10. Megaman Legacy Collection 2 (PS4) - 180 min.
10. Retro Bowl (Android) - 180 min.

Top systems

1. Switch - 2950 min. (#1)
2. Xbox Series X - 720 min. (#5)
3. PS4 - 436 min. (#9)
4. Xbox One - 404 min. (#2)
5. Android - 240 min. (#5)
6. iOS - 192 min. (#4)
7. PC - 149 min. (#3)
8. GBA - 75 min.
9. Nokia Symbian - 45 min.

Total 5211 minutes and 31 different games on 9 different systems, with 8 participants.

With almost the same total number of minutes as last week, the distribution is a little different. Alien: Isolation catches up from last week and with some last minute play to become the most played game, followed by two more Switch games in form of No Man's Sky and Dorfromantik. With a total of 9 entries, the Switch remains the most played for another week.

Shin Megami Tensei V (Switch) enters the 150 Hour Club with a total of 9175 minutes, which means there are 30 games to have reached 9000 minutes or more. Another peculiar thing is that on the all-time stats, the two Switch games Alien: Isolation and Littlewood are tied at 15150 minutes = 252.5 hours each. That is enough for shared 11th place, as Kangokutou Mary Skelter Finale (PS4) is 497 minutes ahead of both.

Computer is fixed.

PC
THE iDOLM@STER Starlit Season - 375

So this game seems to be one of those super frustrating games where you have to do everything perfectly to barely scrape by or you'll game over and have to start over from the beginning. It's also like 80 hours long, so hopefully I won't make a huge mistake. Game balance looks a bit questionable, as well, as some of the 29 girls' stats look to just be better than some of the others' stats, rendering some of the cast basically useless. They really shouldn't have forced 29 characters into the main story, as it's clunky and balance is not looking great, but it's still a nice game... aside from there being over $1000 of DLC that was blatantly cut from the game to rip people off. That sucks, but is typical for iM@S and Scamco, so not unexpected.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 - 877

PS4
Kyuukyoku Tiger - 17
Same! Same! Same! (2P ver) - 13
Tiger-Heli - 3

I (barely) played this several weeks ago and apparently forgot to track it.

Switch
Shin Megami Tensei V - 18
