I just want to say thank you very much for letting everyone know about this monitor. I used

one of the VGA adapters and put it on my Mega STe, where it rocks.    :)

Like I always say, see something say something :)

I am glad a good alternative that is easy and cheap to obtain has been available for a year for folks.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone!

Wow, I can't believe it has been nearly a year TWO YEARS (time gets lost when you get old..lol) since I had started this thread. I hope everyone who wanted one of these were able to get one. Availability has been quite good for the year but I have a feeling Dell is phasing out this monitor.

Well now you're tempting me to buy another, even though I probably won't need it! :D

Lol, you know you'll use it :).  I have six of them and use all of them...one each for STE, Falcon, 130XE, Hades/BeePi and two for my development computer dual-monitor system.

Really been nice to have these for our retro systems!

I bought a Dell SE2722H 27" last month at Microcenter, and hooked it up today to my wife’s 1040STE - works perfect in color. My monitor has a manufacture date of 1/23. I’m using the Exxos ST2VGA adapter.

Have to try out sound now.

Thanks for the buying advice - saved about $200 by not buying an OSSC.

Glad to hear you picked on up.

There are many deals on this monitor on Ebay as well.

Many are open box like new units for under $100 shipping included!

Microcenter was only charging $99 for new - in store only.

I had one in NJ, but now that I have moved too NC none here yet. Even though the Microcenter planned I think will be in Charlotte which is like an hour and a half from me.

I bet NJ Paterson location has a bunch though.

I'd say people are safe with inventory for the time being. Dell really pumped this monitor out for the masses (not the classes?). In any case seeing what I am seeing now I'd have to say that the availability of this monitor is alive and strong. Nobody should have issues obtaining one for a while.

Add another to the list! Broke out the 1040STF a bit ago to replace the disk drive and was slightly horrified to see that all was not well with the sc1224. Luckily came across this thread(I'm usually in the 8-bit area), and got one from ebay along with the awesome cable from BEST. Thanks for sharing, eightbit! Now on to fixing the disk drive! Then recapping the sc1224 I guess!

Anyone know the secret to getting the best medium rez out of an ST on one of these monitors?  Whatever the ST outputs does not display correctly on anything I throw at it, even a Retrotink 4k.  It always appears there's some sort of slight phase issue and you end up missing pixels.

Happy new year everyone!

Very nice, congrats!

I personally have three of these displays now...they are just all around great!

Happy new year everyone!

I've got a couple of those VGA adapters, one from Exxos (Ube based) and one from Centurion UK. Both work and give a good picture in low/med res.

I ordered one of these to test with the Amiga:

These signal buffered adapters can make a fairly large difference in eliminating banding.

I intended to get around to testing one of these with the 520ST (which looks unfortunate on VGA) but then got sidetracked and then completely forgot about it after dropping an RGBtoHDMI in.

That's cheating :)

Supposedly has "VLR" (or vertical line reduction) in the adapter.

We'll see what that has to offer when it arrives. I truly believe the quality we are getting (or not getting) really depends on the adapter used.

Funny my Amiga looks nearly perfect with the Amigastore generic version of that adapter with no fanciness.  I've got a dozen different types of ST adapters and I can't get med-rez looking right (even from the MIST!).

Proof the Amiga is the better machine (runs and takes cover).
