Unijoystickle 2 hardware support?

I saw this project (courtesy of @Mr Robot), and was wondering how much of a step up it would be to add a couple of joystick ports to a FujiNet?

I seem to remember there are issues with the Bluetooth stack at the moment, and the board shown has a number of support chips (I'm not a hardware guy), but am just posting as a heads up in case it's a no-brainer mod.

 

Obviously you would need joystick extension cables too, but I've seen those for about a $1 apiece on AliExpress.

FujiNet is SIO only and has no way of interfacing with the joystick ports. We are using all the esp32 pins so there's no way to add a pigtail/joystick port to hookup to the Atari joystick ports either.

it may be he was thinking of bluetooth joysticks using the fujinet to connect and finding a method to send those commands over SIO either to special new games, patched old games, or some TSR OS wedge...

Ok, I was hoping there might be some spare pins, but without those it would be the methods @_The Doctor__ describes.

 

Presumably this would fly with GPIO and a Raspberry Pi (with logic level shifters, I guess), maybe something that could complement @apc's work on FujiNet-PC.
