Hey all, finally hit the magic number of 76!

Hey all,

Finally found and bought the missing 3 Lynx games to complete my collection of the 76 Official Atari Lynx games today! (Ninja Gaiden, Hard Drivin' and Xenophobe)

Thanks to ALOT of new old stock, and the occasional bit of luck, it's finally done! (A BIG thank you to Songbird Productions)

Two or three of them turned out to VERY elusive. I'm talking about Super Asteroids & Missile Command, Lemmings and Battlezone 2000.

If any of you guys and gals are also collecting the mythical 76, which titles did you struggle to find?

Now to start collecting homebrew!

I don’t remember where I got things back in the day, but for completing my collection I got most titles from B&C, Super Asteroids and Missile Command from Best, most of the Telegames games from Telegames and some from Songbird, Blue Lightning from Australia, Electrocop boxed from Sascha Luchs on eBay(!!), Lemmings from Yahoo Auctions in the Netherlands thanks to @LX.NET, California Games boxed from Australia thanks to @Igor, and I ended up buying a Ninja Gaiden box for way too much to complete the set.

Now has anybody got a Hot Dog??

The magic number is 71 official games, not 76 - https://atarigamer.com/articles/list-of-all-71-officially-released-games-for-the-atari-lynx

Congrats though! We can give you a head start with home-brews available in our store ? https://atarigamer.com/shop/AtariLynxHomebrewGames/5739799835049984

Nice, congratulations. I am 15 or so away, but I have most of the heavy hitters out of the way. I still need a California Games box though. I got pretty good deals on eBay for boxed copies of Hard Drivin', Ninja Gaiden, Xenophobe, and Lemmings. Super Asteroids/Missile Command, Battlezone 2000, and Ms. Pac-Man came from Best Electronics. My only copy of Pac-Land is graded and slabbed, still need to crack that one open.

There are some harder to find games I did not mention, but I think those are the most difficult to find. Not including any variants.

Edit:

Forgot about original runs of the later Telegames releases. I got Super Off Road from Telegames long after people thought the original curved lip cartridges were sold out. Desert Strike and Double Dragon were bought on eBay, but not great deals on those.

After reading the magic number is 71 instead of 76 I'm not all that worried.

I bought the 4 CD cased Telegames games and Krazy Golf but didn't realise they weren't part of the official number!

Now the ultimate question is 'Do I open up a sealed Raiden?' ?

Yes of course! Open it! A game is not enjoyed until you play it ✈️

Lucky for me, there's a shop here in Oz that still has 50-60 New Old stock Atari Lynx games, it varies from week to week depending on what they get from their supplier.

California Games has a little bit of box crush, i think i ordered 46 titles from this shop and 3 were slightly damaged. Not bad for 30 year old games.

So what are the 15 or so games your missing Jeremiahjt???

I need Lynx Hockey, Jimmy Connors' Tennis, Malibu Bikini Volleyball, Scrapyard Dog, Turbo Sub, Viking Child, and Zarlor Mercenary.  I need boxes for California Games, Blue Lightning, Checkered Flag, Rampart, and Warbirds.  I need boxes and manuals for Gates of Zendocon, NFL Football, and Todd's Adventures in Slime World.  My copies of Pac-Land and European Soccer Challenge are slabbed and graded, so I need to get new copies or just crack those open.  I will probably crack open the boxes to and play those.  Although I do have a couple of loose Pac-Land manuals, so I might just get a loose copy for that one.  My Rygar box is my copy from when I was a kid and it is in rough shape. I will probably get another box for that one.

Does anyone know where to buy an Asteroids/Missile Command cartridge for a reasonable price?

Super Asteroids is a bit of a sore point with me, I paid WAY too much it on Ebay, but the seller knows how rare this title is and charges a small fortune for it. (He has multiple copies, but only lists one at a time)

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175205037051?hash=item28cb08b3fb:g:ps0AAOSw1ABeJ23G

Works out to be about $195 US Dollars without shipping with the current 10% off voucher. It was by far the most expensive title i purchased.

I'd setup a saved search on ebay to keep an eye out for it.

All of the games you listed are still available as new and cheap here in Oz expect for California Games and Scrapyard Dog which are still available but a little more expensive. Even though the boxes are light, the shipping to the US would be nasty!

If you consider $125 reasonable for a brand new sealed copy, then Best Electronics is your answer. I bought my copy back when they were $75.

I thoughty Rush on Games in France had some of the games in your list but in fact no.

BTW, here is what they have in stock & prices if someone is interested :

RushOnGame

(note, this is a private sale site, that probably requires inscription, hence the screencopy)

Must be nice for Brad to see his stock appreciating when most regular electronics merchandise loses value by the day....probably another reason why he only sells in little doses.

Need to rummage through my boxes, I thought I got Asteroids but can't find any trace of it in my mail.

I'm still struggling to find a few boxed copies of games.

I picked up boxes for Hard Drivin' and Xenophobe a while ago, but they are both in far worse shape than all my other games, so now it's starting to bug me and I'm contemplating replacing them because I'm a fool.

I also have a pretty shabby Ninja Gaiden box on the way, since the last auction for a complete copy sold on ebay for over $200. :(

My copy of Hard Drivin' for the Lynx was the last one to arrive from the US, and it was in the mail today.

There seems to be an large amount of this game without the box, i wonder if this was a pack in game at some stage.

I think it was one of those games that Atari offered in those late life multi-game packages that only came with the cartridge and manual. I believe some of the others were Checkered Flag, Ninja Gaiden, and Rampart.

Was it part of a package with the system from Atari or a retailer?

I'm not completely certain, because I would have been like, 6 or 7 at the time, but I think it was how Atari had packaged the system being sold in the retailer.

I think the games and manuals were just packaged inside the Lynx II system box, but again, this happened like close to 30 years ago.

That sounds right. I know Pit Fighter was packed in like that, but I did not know Shadow of the Beast was. Not sure if I knew Pinball Jam was.
