awbacon
You can't do a series on Metal Slug without talking about In the Hunt...because the path to Slug leads through water! lol
roadrunner
Also released for the PS1 but expensive. From ebay reviews - Review In The Hunt is one of the best shoot'em up games out there. Originally from the arcade and R-Type mastermind IREM this game has everything. It's a very tactical submarine shooter with beautiful oldstyle 2D graphics (similar to games like Metal Slug). Although it's very challenging so you will spend quite a time till you see the end but it's not that difficult so you'll never get to it, just perfect. Everyone who loves traditional 2D shoot'em up's will love this innovative game. Great and rare classic If you are a fan of metal slug type games then this is the game for you! It's a blast and the game has some cool effects. Game is a little short but is excellent regardless. In The Hunt In the hunt for playstation is a good game. It's kind of like the metal slug,or contra series. It's a side scroller the only real difference is your underwater, controlling a submarine. This game is one of a kind, since they don't make games quite like this any more. The controls are simple enough, and it's easy to get the hang of. As for the graphics nothing earth shattering, but you can do a lot worse. Overall I would say this is a good game, especially if you play the co-op mode.

Cynicaster
It’s a gorgeous looking game but it’s fucking impossible, which ruins it, IMO.

Steven Pendleton
Awesome game, but quite difficult. It is Irem, so that was to be expected, but even then the game is still very difficult. Saturn version is glitchy and sometimes just doesn't work, but the PS1 version is less accurate to the arcade version. Fortunately, the arcade version is on Arcade Archives, so there's no reason to buy the inaccurate PS1 version or glitchy Saturn version if you have a Switch, PS4, or PS5, which also spares you from having to work with ~25 year old hardware, as well. PC and Xbox people still can't get it, though.
