Atari Vault online multiplayer

Hello all,

 

First time posting here looks like a great community!

 

My question is this:

My dad and I are looking to get the VCS 800 because we are fans of the 2600 titles offered there via the Atari Vault. We live in separate cities and I would like to be able to play multiplayer games such as Warlords online with him. Is this possible? I have looked everywhere and have not been able to determine if you can play the Atari Vault games online.

Not through the VCS in AtariOS, but the Steam version of the Vault does allow for online multiplayer. I personally have found that some games work better than others; for some reason there seems to be a slowdown bug with Centipede arcade, for example. So, yes you can do this, but either through PC Mode or on a PC.

Unfortunately I don't think that is what I was hoping for but maybe they will add something down the line. I'm not gonna spend 400. Might wait for a price drop.

A lot of people who snagged them for $99 during the GameStop fire sale are flipping them on Ebay for around $200.  I paid $215 for mine, brand new off of Ebay and I'm happy with mine.   It looks like that's going to be your best bet, if you don't want to pay full retail.

Atari has begun rolling out online leaderboards, so it's theoretically possible the Vault could get a patch to support it, since it does exist on the PC side already. But yeah, definitely don't buy the new VCS in the hopes of it.

Ok cool maybe they will make a patch. In the meantime maybe GameStop will have another fire sale or maybe Best Buy ha ha.
