Spectreman
I bought one to play on Retropie. The extra buttons are great. The stick is kinda of rigid, but ok. The weight I dont´t like, heavier than a Xbox controller. And the base edge is not round like a tradition 2600 controller, huting the hands. The weight is because all the chips or there is some artificial weight added by metal that you can remove? And I need to take off the 4 plastic pads in the bottom? I removed the two exposed screws, but the controller did not open. Thanks.
Leonard Smith
I have one. But I'm not going to open it. What's the point? It works fine for me for emulation. I go into it with the expectation that it is NOT a traditional CX-40. I don't mind the weight and tapered corners.

In the case of this joystick, there is no point. Just use it as it was intended. Not everything has to be taken apart, modified or tinkered with.

I'm not one of those 'gamers' that buy, buy, buy nonsense like the manchild-bearded gamer bro in your vid. Those silly figurines on his shelves --- LOL!!! Buy hey. Satisfy your curiosity and open and mod all your junk. There's likely just a typical circuit board with dome switches in there. Yawn. Must tinker! LOL! But just what if there are leaf switches in there? The curiosity isn't keeping you awake at night? Nice that you didn't call his "figurines" "dolls"

Nice that you didn't call his "figurines" "dolls" I think we can all confidently say that there's no way in hell that Hyperkin would be using leaf switches in this device. Even if they did, my life would not be impacted in any meaningful way. The thing works fine for my Atari emulation needs. I prefer to use the real deal, but sometimes emulation will do when traveling. Dolls or figurines. However you call them, they're still cringy toys. Spectreman
I saw a video on Youtube with the Trooper 1. It is the same thing, with metal that you can remove. Took them away and now is the same weight as a normal 2600 controller. But it is not the same internal plastic stick of other 2600 controllers, in case it breakes... 4
