Yu Suzuki's next game, Air Twister, is clearly a '20s successor to Space Harrier, with many of the original enemy types returning and the bizarre world now rendered in 4K. Gameplay looks quite similar to Space Harrier, with the addition of lock-on mechanics that came along in later rail shooters like After Burner, Panzer Dragoon, and Rez. It can be played either with touchscreen or a controller. The soundtrack is by Valensia (and seems to be strongly influenced by Queen). Looks like there's lots of unlockable customizations for your character.
