(level achieved in the top of the screen 'Oil-1', 'Oil-2', etc...) I 'went' for it on level 1 and got lucky... Then I chickened out on level 2... Had 3 lives on this level and failed. DuggerVideoGames Posted June 14, 2022 Share Posted June 14, 2022 Some tips for you guys: you get an extra life at every 10k points. You cannot have more than 3 lives icons in the corner, though. JEFF31 Posted June 16, 2022 Share Posted June 16, 2022 As far as hints go for me... At the start of a level you have a few (5-7?) seconds to 'drill deep'. Do so and clear as much as possible. Let the bonus score go as low as possible before going to the next level (not sure if '200' is 2,000 in score...?) When you eat the 'power pill' you almost always have to clear the bottom two rows or else you are 'done'. 'Eat' the monsters as fast as possible. Now that I've played the Aardvark homebrew in the latest 2600 HSC (and absolutely loved it), I thought I'd enjoy coming back to Oil's Well. Turns out, it's a whole lot harder and not nearly as satisfying to play. Not being able to move backwards without the use of the fire button makes the movement really jerky and results in missed turns and choppy action. Clearly for some here, this is not an issue, haha.
