dudeguy
I was just playing Tony Hawk 1 for PS1. When I went to save my game, I noticed there were 10 spaces for letters, albeit no punctuation marks, just options for all 26 letters, or a space. That seemed a lot longer than what most games gave you room for. Seemed like the standard was usually around 6 characters. That led me to wonder- has anyone here had trouble fitting their full first name into the name entry screen? Secondary to that, is there anyone who needed punctuation marks, like hyphens or apostraphes? Many (most) games never allowed for punctuation. Curious what people did then if they couldn't put their actual name. I think Donkey Kong Country 3 was one of the first console games where you enter your name, not just your initials. Can anyone think of earlier releases? I know RPGs usually had you change your name but it seemed like DKC3 was the first that wasnt an RPG where you could do that. If you put in a specific name, you'd unlock some stuff.
