+jgkspsx
I recently obtained a complete copy of Qwak, the first real indie release for the GBA and a really fun game. Only 300 copies were made and many are surely lost to time. I have been looking for years and never found it before. I bought it from the UK, and had it delivered to my UK mail forwarder, forward2me, with whom I had never had a problem before. So far so good. For whatever reason, they marked the package as “requires repacking”. Fine, I said, I’ll just have them put it and the other much less exciting UK-exclusive stuff I had ordered together in a box. No big deal. However, in a tragedy of careless repackaging, they evidently threw out the manual and business cards that the seller had carefully protected between two pieces of cardboard and just included the GBA cart. It is especially frustrating because in the past they had always included everything that sellers included, even promotional flyers and ads and whatnot. Once I received the package and reported the printed materials missing, they supposedly scoured the warehouse for it, but it is gone. I feel awful as one of the reasons I bought it was to scan the printed materials in the interests of preserving this fascinating early venture into independent game publishing on dead systems. Now I am indirectly responsible for the destruction of a small part of that history. Who knows how many copies of these DIY inkjet printed manuals still exist, much less in prime condition. Anyhoo, forward2me has offered to replace the manual and cards if I can find one for sale. Anybody have one they’re willing to part with? It seems unlikely but I figured this would be one of the better places to ask.
