It doesn't even matter which one you hit, shooting any of them will do. Be sure to use your special attacks as well. I noticed that when I added a point to it, I got a second type of spreader gun. I'm sure others here know more specifically about the upgrade system. I haven't experimented with it too much. I should try only adding to SW and see what pops up... Yep. I've been sticking with the shotgun though. It's the only weapon that shoots enemy bullets. I've actually played 1942 more because it was one of the very first NES games that my neighbor got bitd. The continue passcode in the screenshot indicates you made it to level 9. However, it also indicates the plane stats are fully maxed out. That's not possible without cheating.
