Feel free to post scores separately, I'lla dd them up. High nostalgia factor for me this round, as Black Belt was one of the very first games I bought for my Master System. I never had Kung Fu Kid back then, but about 20 year ago I randomly worked with a guy that also had a Master System growing up and we had many debates over whether Black Belt or Kung Fu Kid was better. This round runs from July 11 - July 24 Top score gets 10 points, next best score gets 9 points, etc. Bonus Point: Name your favorite movie with "Ninja" in the title that hasn't already been named. BTW there's an English translation of the original Japanese Black Belt (based on Fist of the North Star, IIRC), but I think the scoring is a little different. I do not remember how to beat him, but every punch and kick I threw at him had absolutely no effect. My best score was 338,800. Black Belt - 139,100 (died at first boss) I like how the enemies break apart and explode like the baddies in Altered Beast. Does anyone know what happens when you collect the floating items? I couldn't tell if I got bonus points. Didn't see it in the manual. Kung Fu Kid - 48,000 Don't think I got far at all. Going from one to the other gets you all turned around with jumping. I keep wanting to press up in KFK. It is easier to jump all around in that one tho. jeremiahjt Posted July 13, 2022 Share Posted July 13, 2022 New score for Black Belt of 441,700. I could not beat the stage 4 boss so I went to Youtube and watched a video for the rhythm. I made it to the stage five boss and had her down to no health. I hit her multiple times each with a flying kick, standing kick, crouching kick, standing punch, and crouching punch when her health bar was empty and nothing finished her off. After the fight I realized I need to hit her with a flying kick while she is in the air. Edit: made it to him again, this time with all my lives. The result was the same though. I did get him down to his last hit point, but I hit him with I think a jumping kick, and it did not finish it. Score after defeating Wang was 623,000. I then entered the code to go into the secret chapter seven. I died once fighting Gonta at the end of chapter three, which did not bode well for the rest of the game. Fortunately I made it through chapters four and five without dyeing, I may have lost a life on the chapter five boss, Rita. I lost one life to Wang, but beat him on my second try. I found a pretty good rhythm to beating him. In chapter seven I beat Ryu with only being hit once. I beat Hawk without getting hit even once for the very first time. Gonta hit me once, but Oni never laid a hand on me. Rita tore me up the first time we fought. The second time I beat her with only one section of my life bar left. That meant Wang only had to hit me twice to finish me off and he did rather quickly. My next attempt went much better though. I was able to finish him with a few sections on my health bar still left. I still had another life in reserve too if he would have won that match. My new, and last, score is 881,800. I am happy with that score and I will not be trying to beat it. Black Belt was the very first Master System game I ever beat when I first started playing Master System back in the mid-2000s. Of course back then I did not know about chapter seven. That was (and still is) so cool. I've never beaten it, but maybe now's my incentive. I really like that one quite a bit! I started working on Black Belt last night, and gonna focus on it over the next few days with hopes to finish it. So far, I haven't found an answer for the 4th boss. I can get there without too much trouble, but I've yet to actually land a hit on the boss.
