Finally got on.  The upgrade blanked out the the two-step verification answer to logon.

Yeah, I asked Invision about that, not sure if that happened to everyone who uses the question/answer two-factor authentication, but it's annoying either way.

Paging @Nathan Strum - looks like Categories are back. I updated 2 of my blog entries to test it.  Looks promising, though appears you can only put a blog entry into a single category, in the past I would sometimes put an entry into multiple categories.

If you filter on categories then you need to click on the blog's title (SpiceWare's Blog up at the top by Scarlet, the dragon) to go back to an unfiltered view.

Warning - I've changed a number of blog entries before realizing that editing the blog entry changes the posted date to today, so have lost the visibility of when those blog entries were original posted.

I figured out how to keep the original date - For Publish Time you need to uncheck Immediately then fill in original published date.

Thankfully all but one of the blog entries I categorized have source and ROM attachments, which contain a date as part of the filename, so fixing them won't be too difficult.

This is good to know, thanks for that. I should see if I can make "Immediately" unchecked by default.

Thanks for the warning, but I'd already found that out. Among other issues.

Interesting, hadn't noticed categories were now required. Haven't run into the photos issue, I think all the ones so far have been attachments and not links.  I've decided to continue categorizing my entries as the process fixes the hidden attachments.

Well, thanks to the Wayback Machine, I fixed my blog post's publish date.

But I can't fix the image links because of this:

So... I have no idea how I'm going to fix this mess, since it's going to affect every single blog entry of mine that has any images (since I remote link all of them).

I can help you fix these in bulk, can you install an SSL certificate for your site?

Not sure if this one has been mentioned yet, but posts from people I have put on 'ignore' are showing up, but above the post is the notification I have put them on ignore.

So that explains why I can see Albert's posts! :D

Yeah, I had that issue, but I re-ignored them and haven't been seeing their posts, but I haven't been here very much either. So, I don't know if I truly solved it or not.

Thanks! SSL in$talled. Have at thee, and such.

I spoke to Invision about this and how to fix the issue.  It seems this was done intentionally during the upgrade specifically because the links were not https, versus http.  I'm guessing this is to prevent inline content from loading as http, which causes warnings in web browsers because the page isn't being loaded completely securely.  I now know why this happened to a ton of older images in the forum when I did the upgrade from 3.4.x to 4.4.x in June 2019.

Unfortunately, Invision suggested that you just manually edit each entry, even though I did explain that you have 891 blog posts and it would be very time consuming to do so.  I guess the images were converted to straight links, and I was told it would be non-trivial to automate this.  However, I am going to continue looking for a solution, I'm sure there's a way it can be done, but it's likely going to require me to hire someone to write a plugin or app that goes through every post and blog entry on the forum, looking for standalone image links in posts, checks to see if those resources can be loaded from https instead of http, and if so, convert the link to an embedded image.  Not sure how feasible this is, but I am very motivated to try and automate it.

I did manually edit your one blog post to see what is involved in doing so manually.  Basically you need to copy the link, then paste it back in as PLAIN TEXT, so it's not pasting again as a link.  The image should then immediately load and show inline.  Once all the links are edited in this fashion, the blog entry or post can be saved.

Obviously not ideal.  Invision did fix all your links to cheaptech.com so they are now https instead of http, so that saves a small amount of time when updating an individual post, but it's still a big pain in the ass overall (and that above blog post has a lot of images!)

So, I will keep trying.

Hi, @Albert,

I may be miss-remembering, but I thought the view/replies statistics of a topic could be seen not only on the forum topics page, but within the topic thread itself, somewhere.

If that's so, I do not see it now.

For instance, if I want to know how many views a topic has, I need to find it in the forum topics page list.  Is that how it was always?

Yes, that's how it's always been, the number of views has never been displayed in a topic.  Here's a screenshot from a topic in the old forum that I just took (click for a larger view):

The number of topic views has only been shown when viewing a forum and seeing the list of threads in that forum.

Now, having said that, there IS a new feature that allows me to display a sidebar next to threads that have reached over 'x' pages (something I can set), that has various statistics about a thread.  Here's an example, I turned it on temporarily to take this screenshot:

Okay, nevermind, that doesn't even show the number of views!  Pretty strange, you'd think that they'd include that when showing an entire box full of stats for the current thread.  Perhaps that could be added.  I don't like the space this takes on the side of the page, so I disabled this pretty quickly after the forum was upgraded.  This can also be placed under the first post, so at least then it's not eating into the space on the right, but it's not really terribly useful in my opinion, so I'm going to leave it disabled.
