It's completely incorrect to say "use vinegar to neutralize the battery acid" in this scenario. The only major kind of acidic battery is the typical car battery which is never used for electronics as far as I know. Thanks, I stand corrected! What should I have said instead? It's completely incorrect to say "use vinegar to neutralize the battery acid" in this scenario. Your pedantry is perfect. I think the problem is there is not other colloquialism to describe battery juice. It has always, right or wrong, been known as "battery acid." In our circles, something like "using vinegar to neutralize the leaked electrolyte" is technically better but commonly awkward. I rather like "battery juice."
