Everything should work as it did before, although visually some things are a bit different and some links/buttons may not be in the same locations as they previously were. At present, the forum is rebuilding search indexes and various content in the background, so searches won't work well until that completes, and there will probably be missing images in some places temporarily as well. As for the theme, there are a lot of issues at the moment and areas that need improvement. I was not able to test this theme on the forum prior to now, as it would not work with the earlier version of the software. I was only able to test it on a "test" forum with only a tiny fraction of the content we have here, so I've found a lot of theme issues that need to be addressed. These should be handled pretty quickly. Some things I'm going to have fixed: The messenger needs to have better separation of individual comments in a conversation, don't worry, that will get fixed! When viewing a post, the bar with the "quote" button and reactions floats above signatures. It should be anchored to the bottom of the post. Fixed. When viewing a topic, way too much vertical white space in the area that displays the topic name. Fixed. When viewing a forum, way too much vertical white space in the area that displays the forum name. Fixed. Quote boxes need some vertical space above and below. Fixed. The rank icons are not displaying properly -- looks like they are now required to be square, hence they are getting squished. We'll need all new rank icons! Any volunteers? Fixed, but some people will have double displays of the rank icons, so I need to fix that. The above list is going to grow quite a bit, especially for minor things like, "Follow button should be orange, then blue when Following". If you see anything that's not working properly that was working before, please let me know and I can work on getting it fixed. Likewise, if there are problems with the theme (and there are), feel free to post them here and I will make note of them if I haven't already. Helpful suggestions are welcome as well. Shannon Posted August 10, 2022 Share Posted August 10, 2022 (edited) I don't know if you have any plans to work on the Deflection ( Dark ) theme or not.. but at the top right of the screen I have this.. and it won't go away. That junk about "Find results that contain". Otherwise it seems to be ok? I probably won't notice anything until I start using the forum more. BTW welcome to the flipside. I guess I'll have to wait for the search indexes to rebuild. I've been revisiting some of the homebrew images like I occasionally do to make sure I have the latest. Albert Posted August 10, 2022 Author Share Posted August 10, 2022 I updated the Dimension and Deflection themes, but I still see that menu display improperly. I saw this with the AtariAge theme initially as well, but it went away (and not sure what caused that to happen). I tried clearing my browser cache, but that didn't seem to help. If anyone else is seeing this issue with any of the themes (including the default AtariAge theme), please let me know. Also, the spacing above and below these quote boxes also needs to be fixed. roots.genoa Posted August 10, 2022 Share Posted August 10, 2022 Just noticed two (very small) things: With the previous version, in the unread post stream, it wasn't needed to click on the "bullet" at the beginning of the topic title to go to the first unread post (it was possible to click on the title itself), at least for the "first page" of unread posts (everything after the button loading more posts would require to click on the bullet exclusively). That being said, I remember it was not always consistent, so maybe it will change later when the index will be fully restored (right now the stream has difficulties showing unread posts before the upgrade). The unread post separation used to be orange, but now it's blue like everything else, which doesn't make it very easy to see. The post separation I will change back to orange, similar to how it was before. I'll look at the "First Unread Post" issue, I know Invision has not been consistent with this in the past and it's been confusing, as what these links do sometimes changes depending on context. I'm using theme Gravity (is there any other? LOL!), and there are some issues, mainly the page numbers in a thread are invisible. Occasionally, some bar at the bottom shows up with the same icons as in the header bar, for home, chat, notifications, etc. oh, and the posting box floats over it when scrolling. All in all, it's not bad, it's rather snappy, and I expect these issues to get hammered out in the coming days -- that, or I'll (*sigh*) get used to them like after the last upgrade. 😁 Hey! It just jumps up to the top of the page, but does not quote. Clicking the "+" to quote multiple goes to a page that says "post not found." In the previous version, once you've read the thread, there was no way for me to get to the end -- it always jumped to the first one, and of course, the bullet icon that took you to the latest seen, would turn grey and deactivate when there were none unseen. I think the use case of going back to the last post of an already read thread (to catch up and re-read the latest, or something like that) is more common than restarting at the top every time. dZ. We'll see what everyone's overall impression of speed is. It's still busy rebuilding lots of data in the background as well, so probably will be faster still once all that's done. And, yes, any theme issues will definitely be hammered out fairly quickly. I’ll bet you had a long day setting everything up after the data migration. Hopefully having the app in the cloud gives you some free time back once everything is rolling. The option to sign in anonymously (don’t show online status or last login) seems to be gone or moved. Is it coming back?
