Smack My Candy Up Intro by Desire

Many of the DYCP you see use unrotated characters - this one is cool in that they're rotated to the relevant angle to their sine position.

Is this done dynamically or are there multiple predeined character definitions just ready to be copied where needed?

dynamicly set are those soft sprites…

the char data is pre rotated means 16 angles x 64 bytes = 1 kb per char x 26 = 26 kb total… no double buffering… 10 chars on screen = 120 chars of the 128… unrolled code for setting each char and copy data into it…

can be optimised more to be honest but I run out of time… the one in Joyride has more angles but smaller chars. Mine are fitting into 3x4 chars….

not sure if bitmap mode would not be faster in the end 😂

just a small intro we released at Silly venture 2022 SE...

Atari XL/XE 64kb PAL single POKEY...

that so called "Mega DYCP" Scroller was on my bucket list for ages when I first saw the PM DYCP and the rotating char one in Joyride by HARD. :)

Nice smooth DYCP, Congrats Karolj!

(BTW, the rotating font one in Joyride was a C64 conversion, the PM DYCP was my own. Drew the wave by hand, so that that I always have enough PMs for it on each line - that's why it's not a proper sine wave)

@Heaven/TQA  Great scroller and tune! :D

SVSE 2022 sounded like a triumph.

I was looking at the SVSE22 vid on Atarionline.pl and saw the GFX compo pics (see vid below). I am hoping at some stage they'll be available as XEX files. (I did have a look on the Demozoo SVSE 2022 area which looks like they'll be up soon perhaps)

Would love to see this on my real hardware for example (Especially the image "Silly trip"https://demozoo.org/graphics/312155/):
