I used ColEm for the first time tonight and I love it. It beats CoolCV hands down.

Much better control (using Atari CX-40 joystick) and the graphics are better too.

I've never been a fan of 8-bit emulators in general but ColEm is the closest thing to the real hardware.

Pretty cool.

Longtime ColEm user here.  It's the best, in my opinion.

I'm just curious, and trying to understand, but exactly what about the control and graphics are better with ColEm than CoolCV?

I've had problems running CoolCV on my PC's (using both dual-core and quad-core CPU's; using the built-in Intel-graphics chip and NVIDIA graphics card, etc.) the gameplay is a little choppy and the control has some latency.

Using ColEm, the control and gameplay seem on par with the original hardware.

Seems that CoolCV is the preferred emulator among the community - ColEm just works a little better for me - why? I don't know.

That's been exactly my experience. CoolCV has choppy graphics and no sound at all for me, using built-in Intel graphics chip, and Intel High Definition Audio. While ColEm runs perfectly with no graphics stutter and perfect sound. I guess CoolCV doesn't do well with Intel hardware for some strange reason.

I dig it. I like being able to go backwards. I don't like jumping off the road and crashing, haha. But I especially like being able to start a new game without restarting like most CV games (and having to wait forever for the game select screen to load). So go Bump 'N Jump Up 'n Down!
