Astrosmash - Super Pro - FREE

Thanks for all the game updates!

Most work as advertised, but for some reason Super Pro Astrosmash crashes when I try to configure a starting score.

It's .bin size (16384) is basically double that of the other Astrosmashes I have (astrosmash, astrosmash competition

and astrosmash/meteor, which are all 8192).  Perhaps something went awry in the build?  Or the standard .cfg is not correct?

Can you please take a look?

thanks!

I played around some to try and narrow down the crash I'm seeing.

It seems to happen consistently if I try to enter an initial score starting with '1'.

Other digits sometimes work, sometimes not.

Here's a bit of the jzintv crash output:

Has anyone ever done an Astrosmash patch/hack that lets you start a new game without hitting reset?

ie, make it so that at "Game Over" you can press a fire button (or perhaps a menu choice) to restart the game.

Maybe that wasn't done so you wouldn't accidentally start a new game w/o taking note of your final score? Or maybe to keep within the confines of not needing additional ROM chips (cost savings?)

A bonus (and way to solve the issue of accidentally starting a new game/not seeing your final score) would be to add a title screen that can display high score, sort of like how there are Atari 2600 mods that have done that.

Would be much nicer when playing with modern game controllers, and for people that don't realize you need to reset the hardware.

Astrosmash does not need upgrading. Just the ability to start at a higher level. Get it for free at: http://intellivision.us/roms.php

You might want to get your shop setup for buymeacoffee. Even when you do free stuff, it might be cool to take a mini donation to get a cup of something to drink. The folks at Intv Prime just started one, so why not you?

Cool idea. Thanks for the suggestion! The roms I do sell supports the site. For those that download the free games, I just hope they play them and enjoy them. An email saying they enjoyed it would be the best payment. I can dream :)
