I know the focus is on Vanguard right now in this thread, but I am switching the topic for a minute to The Show Must Go On.

I beat the easy level!😃

I took a couple pictures which I will not post to avoid any game spoilers for everyone else.

This is a very enjoyable game for me,so I will continue to play on the medium level now.

I am pretty sure it's going to get quite faster,I will see if it's possible to get through that also.

Have fun everyone!!!

Intellivision Vanguardians,

@Kamikazi26 has allowed me do some testing on a new revision of Vanguard. The Gond boss fight has been fixed, as have a couple of other issues like the position of your ship and the direction it was firing when you respawn. The game is in really good shape and is a lot of fun as well.

Thank you Eisengrim.

I am passing the Game ROM through another tester of mine to insure that no other bugs can be found. I will consider the issue with the ROM resolved early this week if it's found to be clean.

Just for transparency, this is the email that has gone out to everyone that has purchased a Vanguard...

As you are all aware, There was a bug found in the copies of Vanguard that were sold and distributed in Late August/Early September that caused the stage boss to simply die when approached. The bug was not present on emulation (where the majority of the beta testing was done), but rather showed up when played on real hardware. The bug has since been found and corrected (along with a few other tweaks).

At this time, I would like to recall all copies of Vanguard that was sold by IntellivisionCollector.com, and replace them with a fixed version (ROM V2). In order to do this, I would like to present the buyers (YOU) with a few options. I would ask that you review and REPLY to this email with your preference. I have a running spreadsheet in which I track everyone who bought a copy, and what option below they select.

Option #1

You may elect to keep your “Bugged” version and opt out of this recall process.

Option #2

Come to PRGE where I will re-program your cartridge for free (and ship you the new Labels when they arrive)

Option #3

Purchase a “Vanguard recall kit” (free shipping) which will be comprised of a new game board, a new cartridge label (ROM V2), and a decal for the game box identifying that the included game is the updated version. The $20 USD ($26.50 CAD) cost for this recall kit will be refunded in full when I receive your old game board. On top of that, I will give you store credit for the cost you paid to ship it to us. These kits will only be available once I receive my new labels from the print house (Estimated time of 2-3 weeks).

*All new CIB copies of Vanguard being sold and shipped from IntellivisionCollector.com will have the ROM V2 incorporated. All current sales of Vanguard have been suspended, and will resume as soon as I have my new labels.

If you have an alternate solution in mind that would make you happy, please let me know.

Hi Luc,

I would opt for a simpler solution: I’ll buy the debugged Vanguard too!🤠

You'll add it to my pile, I’ll buy it as soon as it will be available again on your fantastic website…

In any case, the first bugged one it’s a variant!😎 Must have for any collector !!!🤣🤣🤣

Update.  October 30th, 2022

I just wanted to let everyone know that all new labels, and stickers are all in hand for this recall. The reason I haven’t initiated the recall yet is that I am just a few weeks away from releasing my two new games (Beach-Head & Operation Cloudfire). I would be able to send out the recall kits along with the new games and save 1/2 the cost this recall would cost me.

The boxes for the two new releases are back from the printer and en route to me  as we speak. I expected an early November release, but realistically, a mid-November release would be more realistic as I need assembly time.

also, due to popular request, those whom still have a sealed Vanguard and would like a replacement sealed ROM V2 version, I will honour those exchanges as well.  As a sealed game collector, I get it. Gotta keep at least one sealed right? 😁. I will pay for the return shipping of a sealed game as well.

if you do not plan on buying one of my newer games, and you want your recall done immediately, I will also oblige.

if you wish to send in your boards, carts, or CIB sealed games, you may do so at this time. The recall kit should be showing up on IntellivisionCollector.com tonight or tomorrow. Please try to keep the return shipping costs low. There is no need for packing material (within reason). If I receive items damaged, I don’t care. I will return  a new product in exchange.

please send to:

if you do send, please email me and let me know the item is on its way and the total shipping cost that you paid. I will give you store credit (or PayPal refund if you wish).

please remember to purchase a recall kit from the store if you wish to receive one. This will be my main way to track who to send to.
