It does, since 2008. Let me know if there are bugs with it!

Hadn't realized that, I remember grabbing a version of the source code in that custom language (from github?) and didn't notice when I browsed it but it might have been an old version. Is the latest code available somewhere ? I clicked on various links on ASMA and couldn't find it.

The link to the Atari SAP Player (ASAP) is the first entry in the Players section. From there click the Sourceforge icon to get to the Cito source. https://sourceforge.net/p/asap/code/ci/master/tree/
EDIT: I've added direct sourcec link on ASMA now also.

I can also confirm that two-tone works in the Modo computer music player app on android, yet colleen (the atari800 android port) doesn't emulate it.

By the way, are there any old tunes before instrumentarium that used two-tone?

Not that I am aware, but I now have some two tone stuff up on ASMA thanks to Jac! ... Search "Synthpopalooza" .... Specifically, Zanac, Mario Land, 3D World runner, Donkey Kong Country, and E.X.O. area 2

I've decided to make this thread the sole place where news/updates are posted. So here are the "old news" before they're removed from the site.

http://asma.atari.org/img/s.png2022-Sep-17
Replay frequency display added, Playing time display added, init/player/music address display added, Pause button added, updated to ASAP 5.2.0. If something doesn't work, please try and clear your browser cache.
http://asma.atari.org/img/s.png2022-Sep-08
Site update: Site icon added, Find song on entry page added, ASMA download updated (more than 6000 songs now), Google translate replaces language specific mirrors, search by keyword is new default, modules with single song play immediately, outdated links and content have been removed.
http://asma.atari.org/img/s.png2018-Dec-15
As you may see, this site has not been updated for quite some time. The reason is that ASMA archive now uses an online repository, where it is constantly updated. You can check the archive at http://asma.scene.pl . This does not necesarilly mean that there will be no more offline releases, but not for now.
http://asma.atari.org/img/s.png2015-Sep-29
ASMA 3.8, "Tribute to Ramos", is now out! Enjoy 273 new songs (5281 in total), lots of added information and bugfixes!
http://asma.atari.org/img/s.png2015-Aug-15
With a great sorrow we would like to announce that today our friend and significant contributor of ASMA, Mariusz "Ramos" Rozwadowski, has passed away. He will be greatly missed...
http://asma.atari.org/img/s.png2013-Dec-30
Happy New Year! New ASMA is here, with 5016 songs (400 of which are new) and many fixes in credits and binaries. There are also some updated players, such as ASAP, and also a new tool ASFM (see TOOLS section).
http://asma.atari.org/img/s.png2012-Dec-23
Merry Christmas! ASMA 3.6 is out with 315 new tunes (4630 in total!). Because of slight technical problems, ASMADB will be updated later, together with various SAP player updates. Stay tuned!

Then the site layout will later be adapted to make better use of the available screen estate. I've also reworked the complete players and tools section to separate still relevant ones from from outdated/obsolete ones. The latter have been moved to an archive folder on the site.

I have updated links for two of my SAP players.
The players still compile and work, but they are not actively developed. So they most likely belong to the 'outdated section'

mmSAP 3 for GNU/Linux

https://github.com/baktragh/mmSAP

mmSAP 2 for Windows

https://github.com/baktragh/mmsap_win32

I will just one more time take mmSAP standalone player from its grave and update the Windows version to use GTKmm 3 framework instead of the really obsolete GTKmm 2. The GTKmm 3 treats the Windows platform as a first class citizen (compared to GTKmm 2) and supports HiDPI, scaling and multi-monitor setup, which is handy in 2022. The goal is that the player compiles and runs without GTK warnings.

Thanks baktra, it is always good to have choices. I'll update the archive on the site, when you have a new version available.

Update:

- Our collaboration site is back online, and in the links section. So you can see what's going on in the background http://asma.scene.pl/timeline
- ASMA.txt and ASMA.zip updated to the latest revision
- The main page now uses real Atari TTF fonts and text instead of icons and now looks & scales much better on mobile devices.
- Polish and Czech translation buttons removed because feedback from native speakers was that the translation in neither good nor required
- Polish mirror http://atariarea.krap.pl/asma/ now redirects to main ASMA site
- German translation button added, because that translation is quite excellent (class="notranslate" added to names)

In the past, ASMA kept the names and details of verfied composers with at least 3 songs in a plain text file. This has now been migrated into an LibreOffice spreadsheet. With this, additional information about the actual full name in Unicode (e.g. including special characters like "Jérémie" or "Michał") and the Demozoo ID can now be maintained and exported automatically to the web site in UTF-8. The file name and folder names remain ASCII of course. The composer information - plus additional statistics - like song per composer and composers per country are now also available via the "Composers" button.

So if you can provide correct names or demozoo IDs, please download the spreadsheet and send me the updated version. I'll merge the information then.

  • New responsive layout. Uses only the essential fields initially on screens with less than 1024 pixels width. Click „Show/Hide Details“ to toggle.
  • New „Shuffle“ button to activate shuffle mode. Now you can use ASMA as radio station, even on your mobile. It will play random songs once until you press „Stop“. For songs which do not have a defined TIME tag, the song is played for 2 minutes.
  • Frist try of an „Edit“ dialog, not functional yet. I'm still learning hwo to deal with dialogs in CSS...

I must admit that designing the UI in a way it works good on a mobile is a total new experience to me (somebody who's use to having 320 pixels per line. Here's the result of the major redesign

  • All borders and insets were removed, tables use alternating stripes instead of borders
  • All modal dialogs are now based on CSS
  • Playing time has a slider
  • Order of buttons has been rearranged
  • Clicking a line in the result always plays the song and does not navigate to the author
  • There is a new "Author" dialog with all details from where you can filter to all related songs via navigation
  • The "Composers" dialog has become a general "About" dialog.
  • Songs of composer can be filters from the "Composers" tab via navigation
  • Countries als represented using flag, statistics now count normalized countries (without <?> and without regions)
  • The brower history now records searchs and last played songs, does not work yet 100%

Probably not easy without some kind of membership but would it be possible to add user ratings ?

It depends. If you mean to rate songs for yourself like favorites, this could be done using localStorage. Anything else would (again) require a server side (like PHP and and DB) and user registrations. Both things I've either just removed and/or explicitly try to avoid to keep the whole thing self-contained (can also be run from local files).

I meant something global because there's a lot of stuff that's not worth it to the point that it becomes spam (just like on every other platform)... But yeah membership would be required... I don't know if there could be a special thread here on AA where users could rate songs and that thread would be parsed any time it's updated? I realize how how clunky that sounds...

Prerequisite: Any kind of login would require the site to support https in first place.  Otherwise the browser etc. will block it. I'll try to reach out to the admin, to see if that can be added. It would be beneficial in any case.

A little request for the player page: Would it be possible to add a selection button to play a song at the other (PAL>NTSC/NTSC>PAL) speed, for users like me that got used to our favorite demo tunes being played thousands of times at the wrong region's speed, and find the intended speed to sound odd? :)

(I realize I can go to Edit and export...I'm just wondering about doing this on the page's player...)

I know what you mean - won't forget the first time when I first heard "Ballblazer" one the "wrong" (NTSC) speed.. WTF? ... Switching NTSC/PAL also does not work yet with "Edit" also. Here Fox first has to extend ASAP to enable this. Once that works, I can think about having this also in the player as a temporary togglee. Overall "Edit" is still work in progress, but I've already received change requests created from "Edit", so I'm happy with that.

I'm also happy that I achieved the next level of responsive layout. Now the main page automatically used a reduced vertical layout on small/mobile screens. It's been a long way, now it feels like I have my first own "app" :-).
