They weren’t great, but the programmer(s) who wrote them did the best they could do with such a limited architecture. The biggest limitation was the 40 columns TV/composite/svideo display. The C128 with its 80 column rgb video would’ve made more sense for those apps.

Right. I think they were about two years to late to be relevant.
