PAL games on NTSC 7800 testing results

This past weekend I spent some time with my Concerto cart and proceeded to test every single original PAL release on my NTSC 7800 to see how well they worked (or didn't!). That's pretty cool! I'm surprised by the games that play too slowly. I'd think that it would be the opposite problem going from 50 to 60 frames/second.

At least with Ikari Warriors and Scrapyard Dog, your findings are pretty close to what I've seen. I have one of Bob's and RevEng's new 7800 BIOS that allows for PAL games to be used. Ikari doesn't flicker but does have some graphical corruption along the bottom of the screen and it does play very slowly. So slow that I think it might even lock up sometimes when trying?

 

Scrapyard gives me a title screen and then goes to a black screen.

I think the most surprising thing I found was that Hat Trick seems to be pretty much the same as its NTSC counterpart, the screen isn't shifted down and the only thing I noticed is the different color palette used. Midnight Mutants was also a pleasant surprise considering how the PAL version is a little easier to get ahold of than the NTSC release, can't say the same for the other rare later releases.
