Round 3 has started. If you cannot find the Bios for the system, archive.org has them

Either version is good. You are allowed a max of seven lives, no more

Scores as of 12/2/22:

Frozone212: 1016840

Zeptari1:161920

(The Sega Genesis HSC encompasses the 32X, CD and genesis all in one FYI)

Here:

Voting period is short and if no agreeable vote (must be at least 75% for one game, if split 50/50, I am the tie breaker) is reached, I pick the next game. Nobody voted last time so I picked Terminator. You can only be absent twice.  a third absence is an automatic disqualification at which point I will DM you to let you know. From the start date to the end, participation is not optional. I will make exceptions for life threatening conditions (Hospital stays, funerals etc) but absent that, no exceptions will be allowed. You have been warned.

Other than that, have fun.

normally I would do three weeks, but Christmas is almost here, and I don't want to impose, so ten days from now is the end.

and Merry Christmas

Very welcoming to new players.  Good luck with your HSC.

no. every player is allowed three chances to show up to the game we've picked. I was patient with chuckwalla, I even sent him a DM but he never responded. once they've shown up, then their score is counted. All games run for a few weeks and you know the rest. Not showing up for voting is counted as a first strike.

Bottom line, if you played, then refuse to show, you're gone. Each day is a strike, so if we played on a monday, then you have three days from then. If we played on a holiday then the rule is after that, three days. No exceptions save for the reasons listed.

For instance, Zeptari is absent and doesn't leave me a DM explaining the situation. I mark as absent for the day, the scores still stay up

Same for the next day. On the last day, they are given one final chance to show and if they don't, the scores are void and they are kicked, usually with a DM notice beforehand.

Does that clear things up or do I need another example to give you?

Ok let me clear this up. Once you have participated, your scores are logged.  Please see the post above this one for the rules regarding absences.

note that this is a per game basis. Once we're playing, you are given three chances barring health emergencies, funeral etc, to show up. Chuckwalla participated then failed to show up after, not even giving a valid excuse, nor responding to my DM. Please note that these are not separate; You literally have three days to respond. If on the third day you still fail to show up, your scores are expunged and you are kicked following a DM.

Say you are absent on friday, then score on saturday. You still have two chances. I require upon your absence:

A DM explaining why you are going to be absent (so I can keep you in the game)

When you will be returning (again, to keep you in the game. Reminder: Medical or extenuating (or out of your control/act of god) circumstances only. Taking your pet to the vet is not a valid excuse. Getting a flat tire is valid. A funeral is valid. In these cases, your absence will not be considered

Those are my rules. Come in, play the game, post your scores. Simple and to the point. Have an issue? talk to me. Hopefully that clears it up. One last thing: Have fun. I really do hope you have a good time here and I want everyone to have a fair shot. Read the rest of my posts for the other rules

The rules are laid out as a guideline. They do not apply to me but I will follow them as required. Note that we do not play on holidays. The only reason we are doing so here is because I extended the deadline past Christmas to end on the 28th.

Future games will end right before or after a holiday. Any score posted during said holiday will NOT be counted.

Frozone212, perhaps you don't realize how you are coming off here, or how ridiculous the rules are, because this is nuts.

Very few people want to participate in a high score club where you need a permission slip from mom to not submit a score, where the rules change from day to day, and especially where the guy running it says the following 16 days after starting the latest round:

What's to stop you from just changing a rule during a round so that you end up on top?  Please consider setting some clear rules each game, and sticking to them (and yes, they should apply to you as well).  It's your HSC, but if you keep running it like this, it's probably gonna be just you and Zeptari1 (eventually probably just you) for every game.

This whole thing is honestly a mess. I am thinking about doing my own shooting-onlyTM HSC, but I don't know if there is any interest in such a thing at all. There are about 60 STGs on the system, and while there are a few bad/boring games like Arrow Flash, most of them range in quality from pretty decent to literally genre-defining, so there are a lot of great games to choose from, ranging in difficulty from entry level to "don't play this unless you hate yourself and enjoy miserable suffering".

Like I said, I do not know if there is interest, but if there is, let me know, as I will have absolutely no difficulty getting everything set up aside from maybe doing some extra research on games that I don't know much about.
