A couple of interesting games this week. Street racer is interesting as a very early title, and the fact that games like this were what the system wasy designed to play shows just how talented the programmers who ggot much more complex games out of the system later on were. But while interesting, it doesn't hold up well now imho. While games like Combat and Indy 500 still maintain a certain sparkle about them, Street Racer looks and feels like the very early game that it is.

Demons to Diamonds on the other hand is one of those games that I like far more than its reputation says I should. That's in part a sentimental thing, as it's one that my uncle had when I was a kid so it evokes memories of loads of my extended family huddled round the Atari. As a two player game, this one is simple with hidden depths, and it's still fun as a 1 player game, even if it was in truth already pretty dated by the time it came out. I was actually surprised that this was a 1982 release as it feels more like something from 1979/80. It's still good fun though, and I'll definitely look to play this more if time allows

Anyway, that's enough thoughts about my childhood memories. Here are some scores

Demons to Diamonds (1 B/B): 5292

Street Racer (15 B/B): 63

I first learned of Demons to Diamonds from "James and Mike Monday's" from the YouTube channel that has the Angry Video Game Nerd.  This one was identified as a hidden gem in the 2600 library.   Definitely a good game but no where the fun as a Super Breakout.
