What's the Best NES game you would play for $5000?

Recommended Posts

Sometimes just kickin' back,...Getting lost in a video game, was the Best!  More fun than a barrel of monkeys!  So what if you could play any NES game,  just for fun... and for no logical reason I can think of, you'd get $5000?  Think of the beer you could buy!

What are ya playing?

And,  if you're feeling it,  What's your celebratory beverage of choice?

  • The title was changed to What's the Best NES game you would play for $5000?

I would literally play any NES game for $5000, with only one condition, only for up to 50 hours!!! ;)

In this case, I'm taking "best" as "perfect game to finally complete while getting paid!"

Perfect game for this would be either Deadly Towers (a childhood favorite, never finished it, but 50 hours at $100 an hour would be perfect to actually sit down and map it out) or Legacy of the Wizard (love the concept, but there's too much block manipulation and just randomly trying to find secrets for me).  I'd be drinking some rum.

ok, message received

FWIW,

No real message from me,...Well maybe a light message that you don't always have to be negative...But,  that said...You inspired me and I wanted to see what people would say, so I offered up an alternative.  I think I only got one actual answer (so far...)...But it's all in good fun.

I'm confused, I guess I can pick any game and get paid $5000 no strings attached?  Or is this where I can only use that game for a month, year?  Then it would get a bit more interesting for that value.

I'm going to pretend it's that so the money even begins to make sense, and because of that long of a commitment I'd squarely put myself into a game that can easily vary itself and last that long without being a snooze where you can always do more, or at least improve more on the score with no end in sight.  Sim City fits the one, and the other for points (though I prefer Gameboy) Tetris as that's king for incremental improvement even if you think you're maxing out you can do more with time.

And before you start bitchin at me about Sim City, don't.  IT got leaked a few years ago, and I got it put on a real cart so ...nyah.

Yeah, really.  Kinda related, I just read a post from @GoldLeader and at the end, after you've read it all, he adds a "TL;DR" summary.   Well played... 😁

Here's a fair one, $5000 and after an extensive poll is taken, you must and only must play the worst rated NES game (that doesn't use some addon-accessory) made.  It will need to be played at least 5 days a week minimally for an hour, and the game will need to be in the end finished by you on a 1CC style run...no game over, no continue, no death.

That would be one to debate a $5000 payout.

Allow me to answer my own silly question.  :)

And Everyone can answer this question in their own way of course...I don't think there's any wrong answers.

First if I were given $5,000 and let's assume I'm on a day off,  or (better yet) day 1 of a 3 day weekend.

Step 1 I'd buy a big ol' growler of my Favorite Beer;  Currently,  Black Eagle Baltic Porter from Black Tooth Brewery (Cheyenne, WY)  like so

df969a942273db47e5d83713a04abce0_1280x12

(Don't worry,  I'll only have a couple)

Next,  Well I personally like Randomness...

So I roll 2 dice.

Then I go to Yahoo and type in "Top 10 NES Games".

My first die roll is a ... 3

So I'm going to select the 3rd result from Yahoo...

Here's what came up.

https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/11/25/10-best-nes-games-of-all-time

And my second die roll is a ... 6

so I play game #6 from their list.

**Drumroll**    ***buddabuddabuddabup!***

The Guardian Legend!

I am as well, asking what our favorite game is would be simpler.

I can see you've confused me with someone who is "simple".  Don't worry,  Happens all the time,  LOL!

I thought my antithesis to Frozone's query would generate "interesting" responses,  (and hopefully not just generate confusion, heh)...The droids you seek may be found Here

What's the worst NES game that you would beat for a Klondike bar?

I bet you'd play Hydlide for one, to completion. ;)

Howzabout I play 45 seconds of Hydlide?...And then ya let me lick the wrapper of the Klondike bar?

That was one of the few games I owned (bought for I wanna say $12 @ Sam's Club,...The ONLY game they had there...A whole Stack of'em!) but now I don't.  I do wonder what I did with it, because back then I almost never traded or sold games.  I must have sold it or pawned it or...?   (I just wish I remembered,...As a kid my memory was very good,  but not now)

Honestly for decades I've seen people crap on that one going back to the 90s, so I've never actually tried it.  I remember when the rom was dumped and header was made in the mid 90s for it too, and that's where it really took off.  At face value it doesn't seem totally rotten, but it's an old Japanese computer style design game and maybe the manual helps or not I have no idea, but it's cryptic, strange, and well not Zelda so I guess people just won't put up with it.  Friend of mine in town like to get stuff to turn over for profit and also keep some too, and he got it in a stack recently and I hadn't seen it in years so that's what reminded me of it at all and why I went there.

I would play any game for $5,000 but I would not pay $5,000 for any game.
