If you haven’t heard about AI chatGPT yet, I highly recommend checking it out. Just for fun, I asked it to tell me about the Intellivision and this is what it spit out. I’m curious where it came up with the 500 games factoid from.

The Mattel Intellivision was a home video game console released by Mattel Electronics in 1979. It was one of the first consoles to offer graphics and sound that were on par with arcade games, and it was marketed as a more advanced alternative to the Atari 2600.

The Intellivision was developed by a team of engineers led by Dave Chandler, who was previously a design engineer at Atari. Chandler and his team were tasked with creating a console that could compete with the Atari 2600, which was the dominant home video game console at the time. To accomplish this, they focused on creating more advanced graphics and sound capabilities for the Intellivision.

One of the key features of the Intellivision was its use of a 16-bit microprocessor, which was significantly more powerful than the 8-bit microprocessors used by other home consoles at the time. This allowed the Intellivision to display more detailed graphics and produce higher-quality sound than its competitors. The console also featured a unique controller with a numeric keypad and a set of buttons, which allowed for more complex gameplay than the joysticks used by other consoles.

In addition to its advanced hardware, the Intellivision had a strong lineup of games. It was initially released with a library of twelve games, including popular titles like Las Vegas Poker and Blackjack, Major League Baseball, and Space Battle. Over the course of its lifespan, the Intellivision saw the release of over 500 games, many of which were developed by Mattel Electronics' own in-house development team. Some of the most popular games for the Intellivision included Astrosmash, Utopia, and Tron Deadly Discs.

Despite its impressive hardware and game library, the Intellivision faced stiff competition from other home consoles, including the Atari 2600 and the ColecoVision. In addition, Mattel Electronics was not able to match the marketing efforts of Atari, which had a much larger budget for advertising and promotion. As a result, the Intellivision was never able to gain a significant market share, and it was eventually discontinued in 1990.

Despite its commercial failure, the Intellivision has remained a popular choice among collectors and retro gamers. Its unique controller and impressive library of games have made it a favorite among fans of classic video games. In recent years, there have been several attempts to revive the Intellivision, including the release of the Intellivision Lives! compilation in 1998, and the development of the Intellivision Amico, a new console that is currently in production.

Overall, the Mattel Intellivision was a pioneering home video game console that pushed the boundaries of what was possible with home gaming technology. Its advanced hardware and impressive game library set it apart from its competitors, and it remains a beloved piece of video game history.

it is probably counting the Atari VCS games that worked with the System Changer, as part of the library -- just like Mattel or Coleco were doing at the time.

Here's what I got from "Intellivision Nightstalker" at https://textsynth.com/playground.html

The Intellivision Nightstalker is a set of game consoles for the Intellivision video game console, released in North America on September 18, 1983. It was based on a clone of the Magnavox Odyssey² (MC2), and contained software for games designed for the original Intellivision console. Its release date was chosen to coincide with the release of a third revision of the Intellivision known as the IVC, which added the cartridge port found on the IIc and IIc2. Intellivision originally intended to license the Odyssey clone and add its memory to make the system into the Intellivision Mark III, however, due to Magnavox's poor sales of the Odyssey clone, they instead licensed the Nightstalker as a new console. It was released in two revisions: the "Super Stalker" and the "Advanced Stalker". The Advanced Stalker replaced the Super Stalker's floppy disk drive with

Intellivison Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack Strategy

As the most recent addition to the Las Vegas Sands group of brands, Intellivison is another Vegas product geared towards high-rollers. The property caters to a different crowd with a different type of feel. Rather than the loudness and flash that the Venetian and Palazzo has to offer, the players at Intellivison enjoy a little more silence and more elegant surroundings. Intellivison is located just north of the Flamingo on the north side of the Strip. Because the property is situated in a quieter neighborhood with a little more of a secluded feel to it, players on the Strip have less of a chance of being bothered by other players. That being said, there are plenty of other reasons to choose the Intellivison over the Venetian and Palazzo. Besides being more secluded, the Intellivison has a poker room that has been renovated and equipped with all the amenities that players have

I guess that was Mattel's entry into the adult entertainment industry in Las Vegas, NE. 😆
