Can someone offer a hint on the card reader/ keypad with the Greek letters? I thought the code might be someone's four-letter first name, but apparently not...

I've been so busy of late I've not had any time to play many games. Been focused on the hardware side of all things A8.

Resumed my attempts at beating OnEscape this eve on my 65XE (320k) VBXE RGB (nice image btw), running off SIDE3.

Embarrassingly perhaps - I am stuck here:

I really wish I'd started playing i this on Altirra as at least I could have saved state. Just had to power down and lose all my progress. :-o;)

I've hidden this as a spoiler for anyone who hasn't got this far.

Spoiler

I know I have to cut the power to pass, to reach the little oil can which I am thinking is oil for the rusty pipe wheel on the other floor. I've gone over all rooms on all floors and there is nothing else to collect and all locked cabinets/etc I've tried to open using the key I've got, as well as break open with tools. Nothing unlocks anything. I have the flask of acid which I haven't found a use for (although I have ideas). Read diary entries for clues.

I also know I need to (presumably) knock the dead tree over to bridge the gap above ground near the entrance. I'm obviously missing something as stumped.  Little prompts make you think you have missed something like "the little browm moss covered rock that looks out of place"   :D Really great game.

Here's the latest version I have.

[Deleted]

Alright, I've deleted the version I posted here, as I just realized something: Atarimax uses versioning along the lines of 2.1 -> 2.2 -> 2.9 -> 2.11 -> 2.18 -> 2.25... where the number after the decimal place is a considered a whole number rather than a decimal value. There was actually a discussion regarding this before, which I was involved in.

For obvious reasons, it's easy to get this type of versioning confused with decimal versioning. In fact, it's quite easy to convert this type of versioning to decimal just by putting a zero in front of any single-digit sub-version (assuming sub-versioning won't be taken any higher than two digits in the future) 2.01 -> 2.02 -> 2.09 -> 2.11 -> 2.18 -> 2.25...

Anyway, bottom line is, the most recent version is going to be what's on his site @ 2.29, as per my previous post (the one with flashing disk creation instructions) and here: MaxFlash Cartridge Studio

Hello Adam, guys

Thanks and congratulations to Fandal, Poison and PG. One of the best A8 gaming experiences.

Come to next years Fujiama (we start on Wednesday in 2023) and you might be able to thank and congratulate them in person.  They have been visiting the Fujiama often.

You can find more information about the Fujiama (and a couple of other meetings) on my meetings site.  (I want you to see all the pictures, so I'm linking to the top of the page this time)

Sincerely

Mathy

Holy Moly - I just came here to say this is an absolutely amazing game!

I will get serious about installing Stereo Pokey on at least one of my 8-bits.. then try this on real hardware.

I assume it requires PAL?  (I have a PAL ANTIC swapped Atari that should be close enough to at least try it..)

  • 2 weeks later...

just picked this up on Atarionline.pl:

https://atarionline.pl/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=6872&page=1#Item_19

Poison and PG are apparently working on onEscape collectors boxset::

A3 map in colour
CD with OST digipack
A5 manual, pictures, texts, approx. 10 sheets, coated paper, original artworks
cart with game
5 stickers - round (game image, different, glossy)
box made of sturdy cardboard - colour printing

oooo I am lovin the sound of this! :lust:

Given the general tendancy with A8 boxed games to have quirky additions  - (with Albert there were plastic insects; Flob a tub of slime) - I wondered if the boxed game might come with a small biohazard labelled virus in it. Unfortunately given the events of the last few years that probably wouldn't be the best thing to include!! :D

I'll definitely be up for such a boxset. :lust:

Incidentally I know this wasn't a feature in the game but it's a pity the planned cart (presumably?) won't be able to save progress like Flob can for example. That is the only downside to such games on the A8 where progress saving would make a world of difference.
