SF Rush: The Rock - IMO the best thing Atari ever did in arcades

I'd say that this ALMOST gets the crown of the best arcade racing game ever made...only edged out by some of Sega's racing games. Which is more than an impressive feat considering just how DAMN GOOD Sega was at the racing genre

SF Rush was pretty good...  But not a patch on Konami's GTi Club.

My soft spot was always for Rush 2049 but my bias is that I barely played the first one, while I was working at an arcade when they bought a pair of Rush 2049s when brand new and that became the employee's go-to game to compete on (the rocket car which set off the rumble in the seat was usually my go-to there)

I like SF RUSH too. Note that it’s from “Atari Games,” which is Midway (now Warner), not the company chronicled in Atari 50. 
 

I feel that its spirit lives on in the modern arcade style Need for Speed games, Burnout Paradise, Asphalt 8+, and Forza Horizon, all of which I happily play so don’t really pine away for the old game. 

 

Would be nice to see it come back in perfect port form though. Or at least the N64 version on NSO.
