apersson850
It's not a TV, it's an LCD!
jetset
YEP! Xmas 1978 - my brother and I left Pong (don't remember the brand/style) on overnight. The lines and the scores burned in. Our dad was puh-h-h-h-h-h-issed off. Fortunately we were already planning to move and the TV was to big to take anyway, but those last few months were *not* pleasant. 4
jhd
I did not realise that burn-in was permanent; I thought that the screen would (eventually) return to normal. Granted, I have only ever seen it on arcade games where the screen image does not change very much.
+arcadeshopper
very permanent.. i have a stack of tubes here from mostly pacman with burnin for life..
schuwalker
Definitely not uncommon... I swapped tubes recently with one that had Track & Field burn in.
+InsaneMultitasker
You sure that isn't an overlay decal? I remember having to securely destroy green and amber screen terminals now and then, due to sensitive system info that was burned-in over time. Crazy fun...

apersson850
I saw the main console of an IBM system 370/Model 158 once, where the more common status messages were for ever preserved on the screen.

The operator console of our System/34 network was like that.
