Awesome stuff John. You mention the controller isn't all that great. Is it loose like the FlashBack X controller or weak like the Atari VCS Classic controller? Just wondering.

The controller does not feel loose like a VCS controller.   I have an issue with the base stick being a little too tall to position my hand like a standard joystick for the 2600.   The main issue I have is the positioning of the buttons and cramped position of the C button.   It makes is awkward playing several games that are included on the console.   For $5, you can get an adapter to used a wired Xbox One controller or PS4.

Crazy question here: to save myself going through AA batteries, could I just hook up a power bank to the USB connector on the joystick? I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Seems I have an answer to my question. The joystick works one of two ways, according to this guy's video.

Either you turn it on for wireless and it runs off the batteries OR you plug it into the console with a USB cable. Can't simply power it with USB and have it run wirelessly...

I just thought I'd clear this up, I found this thread in a search when I was looking for my original post.  Drag Race is a graphical hack of Activision's Dragster that I posted on the AA forums in April 2003, the original thread is here.  It's otherwise identical to Dragster.  I didn't know that it was going to be included.

 

Also, AA User KevinMos3 updated my hack in 2009 and filled in the cars with solid colors. You can find that thread here.

The Atari Potable looks like a Nintendo Switch Lite, a bit but wider maybe the same size as a Steam Deck.

I see a HDMI port too so you be able use it on a TV too, cool...
