jhd
The Atari 2600, the Intellivision, the Colecovision, and even the Bally Astrocade all had computer expansions (of varying degrees of usefulness). What was the very last system to support such an expansion? I'm thinking that it was probably the NES -- though that expansion was only released in Japan. Did the SNES or Genesis get any computer expansions? (I am aware of Famiclones with a keyboard and educational software, but those are adaptations of the basic hardware, not an expansion per se. The Linux kit on the PlayStation 2 does not count either as that was generations later and it was aimed at a different audience.)
Steven Pendleton
The closest I can think of is the Saturn with Game BASIC for Sega Saturn, but it basically just connects to your existing Windows PC.
glazball
To the best of my knowledge, neither SNES nor Genesis got anything like a computer expansion. Probably not the answer you are looking for - Dreamcast had keyboard, mouse and broadband adapter add-ons which made it basically into a (typical) computer.
CatPix
The Videopac+ released in 1983 received the C7420 BASIC module. Much like the Intellivision expansion module, it come with extra beef (basically being a computer in itself that use the Videopac+ as a display and keyboard input. Like the Intellivision and (second version) Bally BASIC, it allow to save and load programs on an external tape player. I'm no sure when it was released in 1983 compared to the Famicom, but that may make it the last console with a computer/BASIC add-on, or the second-to-last.
