Atarimania was my go to place for getting programs from magazines like Compute! I'm getting, This site can’t be reached, browser message since it uses http and my network only allows https sites. Does anyone know if the site will be updated to https or have any contacts with who runs the site to make the request?

Not a direct answer to your questions, admittedly, but you may be able to work around the issue by using a public HTTPS proxy.

A list can be found at freeproxylists.net; you can search by country, HTTPS or HTTP, level of anonymity, etc.  I'd recommend treating any public proxy as insecure, so don't send bank details, logins, your kid's pets' names, etc. via them.  For browsing Atarimania, though, you should be fine.

Thanks. The network I am on does not allow external http connections. there is no "continue to site" option, like internal http connections provide.

Could be your web browser. Some will not go to an unsecured site. Pretty sure that's a user setting you can adjust though.

I just tried atarimania myself and my kindle hooks up, but it does have a warning triangle as part of the address letting me know its not secure.

Different os work different ways, so you'll have to do a search for your os, web browser, and how to bypass non secure sites. Just know that blocking insecure sites is a safety thing, and while probably not a problem, you could more potentially get worms or viruses by visiting an unsecured site.
