explanations or code examples for FlipDraw and SwitchDraw?

Reading through the archives here, I find many discussions about three vertical sprite positioning methods called SkipDraw, FlipDraw, and SwitchDraw. This post has a nice summary of the cycle counts and pros/cons for each of these three techniques:

More information about SkipDraw was easy to find, but I came up completely empty on searching for FlipDraw and SwitchDraw details. Every mention of these two was just a suggestion to "look up FlipDraw" or "try using SwitchDraw" without ever explaining how those methods work, or offering a minimal code example. Google failed me as well. Could anyone point me to some explanation for these two? Thank you!
