PlutoniumPasta
Personally I REALLY, REALLY, hope this isn't just another batch of flashback consoles! My Arcade has never really released any official consoles with real licensed titles before. However, the quality of the manufacturing for their devices is pretty good but all the games are unofficial games made by My Arcade themselves. The GameStation better be more than just a bunch of 2600 ROMs thrown into a fancy package. I also hope that the joystick controllers can be used for other devices besides the GameStation itself. Maybe it could use a C type to USB cord or Bluetooth? Based on the info we got so far on the handheld, it looks like it might be another Flashback Portable with 2600 games and no SD card slot. Same goes for the arcade machine device. I'm more interested in the GameStation console anyway. Who knows? Maybe this could be the next big line up of Atari products? They're well and truly played out, no pun intended. 8 hours ago, PlutoniumPasta said: My Arcade has never really released any official consoles with real licensed titles before. If they're using licenced titles, how could they not be a Flashback-type console? 8 hours ago, PlutoniumPasta said: Maybe this could be the next big line up of Atari products? Atari badly needs new IP. Over-reliance on titles that have no relevance to anyone under 45 isn't doing them any favours.
Mockduck
Prepare to be disappointed is my guess, it almost has to be a Raspberry Pi like bit in a cheap plastic case with budget controllers, since the devices themselves are built to a low sale price. But the end user might end up liking it a lot, it'll be an easy way to take a brief nostalgia trip and will probably play all right. It's not really for the Atari 2600 hobbyists, more an impulse purchase.
